The role of tattoos in modern life is not that visible. However, it is impossible to reject that modern understanding of tattoos has changed. Nowadays, many people consider a tattoo as something additional to their appearance and image. Many people in the USA do not consider most of the tattoos as something religious or symbolic in sacred meaning. However, it does not mean that making a tattoo a person does not think about it as something special for them. Therefore, tattoos have lost their sacred meaning in the USA, but they are symbolic for some people from personal considerations.
Looking at modern popular culture devoted to tattoos, it is possible to state that the tendency to making tattoos on more visible parts of the body has occurred (Trebay n.p.). Hands, neck, face, and other opened parts of the body are considered to be the places of the tattoos. What are the reasons for this? Why have people become interested in showing their tattoos to others? One of the main aspects of this situation is that people stopped considering tattoos as something sacred. The tattoo has become an attribution to clothes, make-up, etc. People wear tattoos as if they wore a necklace. Showing the tattoos may also be considered as the tendency to show the body. Human cloths traditions are changing and the fewer clothes on a person, the more sexual and attractive he/she seems to the opposite sex. People are not interested in hiding their tattoos as having become the part of body decoration (different from sacred meaning as many nations used to consider tattoos), the tendency to showing hands, legs, and other parts of the body with tattoos have become the norm.
