New York City is a place of significant opportunities and substantial challenges. According to Gould and Rivlin-Nadler (2022), “faced with high absentee rates among students and teachers, principals at public schools across New York City are scrambling to staff classes and keep their doors open” (para. 1). However, the competition is still great, especially in high-payment job positions. Nevertheless, I am not looking for profitable titles but rather work that can help the community and make me feel comfortable. As such, I am interested in English as a second language teaching since it is a demanding job for which I have the required skills.
I am also looking for an active school community that aims to enhance the academic achievements of its students. Namely, I expected a community with developed courteous, collaborative relationships among students, instructors, and parents. Along with intellectual accomplishment, I want to work in a school with a friendly atmosphere that emphasizes the development of personality and citizenship values such as justice, caring for others, and individual accountability. Finally, I believe that opportunities for service and collaboration regularly are also necessary parts of a school community.
I have several strengths, experiences, and skills that might contribute to student outcomes. First of all, I have the appropriate education for teaching English as a second language. Second, I have experience communicating with people who are not native English speakers, and I understand the most difficult topics of the subject for these individuals. Moreover, I have excellent communication skills, which is the foundation of every effective collaboration, so it might provide adequate feedback. Finally, I am technology savvy, which means that I can implement advanced virtual methods of learning to enhance the academic achievement of students.
