Technology is one of the primary causes of the gradual deterioration of the quality of our people’s lives. This statement is proven by the statistics, showing a substantial increase in the number of obese people, chronic diseases, and problems in relations (World Health Organization). For this reason, it should be viewed as a two-edged sword and requires specific measures to mitigate all negative effects. In the globalized and digitalized era, it is vital to preserving the balance and control physical activity, food habits, and relationship patterns to avoid suffering from the negative aspects of technologies and their dominance in contemporary society.

Obesity can be viewed as the most nagging problem of the modern world. Global reports show that about 13% of the world’s adult population has this problem (World Health Organization). Moreover, the number of obese children also increases, which evidences the relevance of the problem. I believe that the spread of technologies is one of the primary causes of this issue. Comfort results in decreased physical activity and gaining extra weight. Recommendations for struggling against the problem include reconsideration of the lifestyle and diet (World Health Organization). For this reason, additional physical activity is vital for preserving balance and remaining healthy. It is a critical step for enhanced wellbeing and avoiding suffering from extra weight.

Moreover, technologies are directly linked to the problem in relations numerous young people face today. Sociological research conducted among active social network users shows that more than half of them might experience challenges in live communication (Reese). They feel more comfortable in the digitalized space, meaning that they might face issues with finding a partner in real life and creating a family (Reese). From this perspective, technologies threaten the future of the nation and its prosperity. The balance is also an appropriate solution to it. People should distribute time between their net and real activity to ensure they do not become isolated or live in a virtual reality different from the existing one.

Finally, the rise of chronic diseases might also be associated with spending too much time using devices. The majority of people do not control their posture when using a computer, which results in an increased incidence of posture-related injures (The surprising side effects of using technology). These include back and neck pain, headaches, and shoulder and arm pain. These problems might become chronic and significantly decrease the quality of our lives. Additionally, the disregard for dietary habits and in-time food intake is also associated with long working or game sessions (The surprising side effects of using technology). I believe that balance is also the right solution to this problem as it might help to control time, avoid injuries, and perform physical activities.

However, it is impossible to imagine the modern world without technologies. Supporters state that this factor is central to the existing progress and quality of life, and it is impossible to exclude it from people’s daily routine. This statement cannot be refuted; however, it is vital to emphasize that balance is still needed. Humanity might achieve new goals radically altering the world, but numerous health and relationship issues might prevent individuals from enjoining it.

Altogether, technology is an integral element of the modern world. It makes lives easier and helps to move forward toward new accomplishments. However, one should remember that it also might threaten our health. Obesity, chronic diseases, and problematic relations might be preconditioned by devoting too much time to devices. Under these conditions, I emphasize the crucial role of balance between digitalized and the real world. It is vital to spend time on daily activities, real meetings with people, and your health. Otherwise, humanity will face new, severer challenges related to the health of the nation.
