Gender
The TV show that was chosen to analyze is “Tele-Tubbies”. There are no gender distinctions at all in this show and the only way to differ the male and the female is through the voice of the actors. Although there are different antennas and colors for each character, these marks possibly were made only to visually separate the character’s personalities, not their gender. The parents and siblings are absent in the show, limiting the occurrence only to the main characters. The play the character engage in often shown is dancing and singing, and as the auditory of this show mostly is pre-school viewers this serves as games for all genders without separating the games.
Language
The language used in the show is mostly a fictional language used as mumbling sounds supposedly present the stage of the language development of the target audience, using in general distinctive words such as Bye-bye and hello. There is no parent influence in the show due to the absence of any family elements.
Socio-cultural
The socio-cultural environment plays a major role in developing the gender and the language. The children’s ability to absorb and replicate the adults and their social relationships can affect the representation of the child, for example the position and the relation of boys and girls in Arab world are affected by the socio-cultural environment which defines the pattern of the social position from early childhood.
Moral Development
The person that was asked is a 29-year-old female. Her response was that Heinz should steal the drugs for his wife because he loves her and wants to save her life, so any possible outcome is justified. Possibly this person falls under “the universal ethical principles”, which makes her think that laws based on basic instincts, and in this case general ethics and the value of life are appreciated in the first place.
Intelligence and Information Processing
Projecting the success in person’s mind can lead to achieving the success, so the intelligence is a key factor in that matter. However, such terms as IQ and any other standards for measuring the intelligence give basic ideas and in that case, indeed the self-view is the measure that helps to achieve the success or failure in the future.The best strategy to achieve success is to forget the bad things and keep the good memories and information available, which corresponds to the concepts of short-term and long-term memory.
The question is: Could a person with an IQ level below 100 achieve a success and wealth in life?
Legree Shatema- Language and gender: The female character having male emotions phrase does not look distinctive on what can be identified as male emotions. How can a society lack a language?
- Moral development: I think in an abstract evaluation of the case, saying that Heinz should not have stolen the drug, and justifying the stealing at the same time is contradictory. In addition if her decision was determinative of one’s faith what justifying will not get Heinz avoid punishment.
- Intelligence and Info Processing: It is understandable how understanding personal life, professional life, and occupation can be related to intelligence.
Jennifer McGraham – Language and gender: I think socio-cultural influence has little connection to the TV, for example American TV shows which demonstrate American way of life can be seen in more than hundred countries with different gender and language development and different cultures, according to that they should develop similarly.
- Moral development: I think that general tendency in answers can not be spotted and conclusion made about female answers to be more sensitive than males is not correct.
- Intelligence and Info Processing- I think the intelligence is a general term not related to any area, and the examples given are more related to talent and knowledge than intelligence.
