First of all, it should be mentioned that driving cars presents the most dangerous kind of transport. Car accidents are more frequent than plane crashes, and the outcome can be sorrowful. In addition, a vast majority of people stick to driving cars, and, for this reason, it is difficult to regulate traffic. Therefore, speed restrictions contribute to making roads and highways safer and minimize the possible risks (Ockdahl, n. d.). Secondly, speed limits lead to lower fuel consumption by cars. According to Ockdahl, “wind resistance increases exponentially the faster you drive, which in turn means that you are burning more fuel” (n. d., para.6). Therefore, it is possible to save fuels by reducing speed, which is a considerable benefit for drivers. Thirdly, in case speed leads to higher fuel consumption, consequently, a greater amount of carbon dioxide is produced (Ockdahl, n. d.). Thus, the establishment of speed restrictions contribute to minimizing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere (Ockdahl, n. d.). This fact is crucial to the environment, as these emissions are closely connected to the greenhouse effect.

In conclusion, it can be highlighted that the benefits of speed regulation on roads are considerable. They increase the safety of car using, allow to save fuel, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. These advantages are important for society and nature, and, for this reason, they cannot be ignored.
