Timothy Donald Cook, the CEO of Apple, was born on November 1, 1960, in Mobile, Alabama, USA. His father was a shipyard worker, while his mother was a housewife. Studying at school was easy for Cook, his classmates remember him as a diligent, intelligent, and calm person. During his studies, Cook was delivering newspapers: it was his first job (Kahney, 2019). He was also interested in science and tried to invent something new.
After successfully graduating from Auburn University with a degree in Industrial Engineering, he started working at IBM and became a production and sales director. He then spent six months at Compaq as a vice president of corporate materials, after which he was hired by Steve Jobs and joined Apple. In January 2011, the Apple Board of Directors approved the medical leave requested by Steve Jobs, and Tim Cook was appointed to the CEO position (Kahney, 2019). In 2016, Tim Cook received bonus funds for the successful management of Apple and great quotes of the company.
Tim Cook is a highly motivated, smart, and thorough person. He was always interested in various technical developments and was ready to spend time on working on them. These are the main reasons why he managed to become a CEO of such a big company. Moreover, he is paying attention to many ethical issues, thus, it was reasonable to entrust the management to him (Kahney, 2019). These qualities made Steve Jobs understand that Cook would be a good successor.
Tim Cook evokes sympathy among the employees of the holding. Unlike Steve Jobs, who was slightly closed to colleagues, Cook gets along well with the company employees. During lunch, he can talk to any employee not as a boss but as a colleague. Tim is friendly and welcoming, and even during hard negotiations, he stays calm and kind (Kahney, 2019). The combination of his character traits and intelligence allows him to be a worthy leader of the Apple company.
