We the United Student World Assembly are determined in setting a new beginning on matters affecting our environmental degradation, negotiate peace in the world, and ensure youth participation in political arenas. To meet these ends the organization is set to establish conditions under which the students will participate in improving the living standards of future generations by combining efforts geared towards accomplishing the set goals.
Purpose and principles
The goals of the United Student World Assembly are:
- To attain students’ cooperation across the world on the promotion of relevant strategies on youth participation in politics and political movements.
- To develop a systematic model for students in contributing to peace development in the world.
- To develop and maintain a national students environmental strategy center in every member nation for controlling the environmental menace.
- To be a common strategic center for formulating policies of harmonizing the youth actions to meet the declared goals.
- To encourage students across the world to avoid participating in actions that are fundamentally against the resolutions of the organization in achieving a safe world for the next future generations.
The organization will comprise a General Assembly, an Advisory Board, and a Secretariat. On membership, it will only be strictly for students across the world ready to accept the obligations, able and willing to carry out obligations as provided in the current charter. The three bodies will adopt a complementary approach in working. The powers and authorities of each body will be checked by the other bodies to ensure proper working to fulfill the highlighted goals.
The General Assembly
The composition of the General Assembly shall consist of seven members from each of the seven continents with each member having one term of five years in the general Assembly. Members of various nations will be grouped into the seven continents. Each continent will then elect a representative to the General Assembly. Among its many responsibilities is carrying out research on youth and political development, youth and environmental sustainability, and youth and peace initiatives in the world. It shall be tasked with receiving reports from Secretariat on emerging issues that needs attention of United Student World Assembly in establishing a better place for the future generations to come. It will also approve the organisation budget to be used for sustaining the various functions. Finances will be collected from member contributions set by the General assembly and certified by the Secretariat. Members will be encouraged to come up with thrilling proposals for funding of the running projects of the organisation. Besides funding of the proposals, member states will be asked to work closely with their respective governments for sustenance of the set programs. General Assembly will be meeting once annually, but might meet more than once if seen necessary by the General Assembly. The Assembly will elect its chair or president for every sitting. The General Assembly members can only be dismissed by the General Assembly after enough consultation and agreement with the Secretariat.
The Secretariat
The Secretariat will consist of General Secretary and a number of members that the organisation may need for smooth functioning. The General Assembly will work closely with the Advisory body to nominate the General Secretary. The Secretary will then automatically become the Chief Executive officer (CEO) of the organisation. The students might choose professionals from outside their schools. The different organs will sit to outline the specific functions of the General Secretary. Among the many functions will be making annual reports to the General Assembly on the projects running under United Student World Assembly Organisation across the continents. The staff shall be appointed by the Secretary General under regulations established by the General Assembly. Some of the staffs shall be employed permanently to form part of the Secretariat. Recruitment process will take in considerations the diversity of the organization’s composition and ensure a representative Secretariat. The Secretariat members can only be dismissed by the General Assembly after enough consultation and agreement with the Secretariat.
The Advisory Board will consist of distinguished members from the different continents not necessarily youth but individuals with credentials to advice the General Assembly and Secretariat on United Student World Assembly projects. The professionals will be elected by the General Assembly with approval by the Secretariat after every five years with consideration on their contributions on youth and development. The Advisory Board members can only be dismissed by the General Assembly after enough consultation and agreement with the Secretariat.
The Headquarters for the Assembly meetings will be in Paris France. General Assembly members will be allowed to suggest a different city outside France but within the member nations for consideration after five years.
