Introduction

“Close Enough: New Perspectives from 12 Women Photographers of Magnum” is an exhibition featuring works from 12 contemporary female photographers talking about their creative journey. Each of the authors presents their vision of connections and relations in global moments, communities, and individual subjects (Close Enough 1). “Close Enough” deserves a lot of attention in the context of its importance and significance to the world of photography because the works are original and unusual in explaining extraordinary relationships and urgent human experiences.

Analysis

“Close Enough” is a new exhibition of photographs in New York, representing a completely new look at the essence and nature of human relationships by looking at them through social and digital filters, and this “reflection” is presented by 12 aspiring and recognized women photographers. They formed new creative approaches to photography and challenged the photography collective’s boundaries in order to investigate the human realm (Exibart Editorial Staff 1). Each of them says something bright, noticeable and seems to go perpendicular to the rest of other creators. Each author’s individuality consists of a personal world perspective and visual reflection.

The works presented in the exhibition are a projection of actual, genuine reality, an outgrowth of the attitude towards it on the part of photographers. “Close Enough,” tells various personal visual stories that differ, illustrating the inner world of photographers and their views on the surrounding reality (Exibart Editorial Staff 1). There are not random people in the works, but their authors should know something about people, and in turn, they know them; this is a kind of interaction. The subjects of their photos are relationships between adults. The following are photos of several works from the exhibition in New York.

Additionally, “Close Enough” is a remarkable project, or in other words, the diaries of 12 female photographers deployed in space. On these pages, connecting the friendly circle and the audience to the discussion, a viewer is asked one of the main questions of interest to humanity: What is a person in this world, and what is their role? Consequently, visualization of everyday life with an emphasis on a more complex construction of reality is the main message and meaning of the exhibition.

Furthermore, a new reality requires a new visual language, and this project has a complex dramaturgy: from comedy to genuine drama. According to the student, for the most part, the exhibition interprets the image of a modern person through emotional instability, showing their vulnerability to various life circumstances. Robert Capa once said: “If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough” (Close Enough 1). In many ways, the photos are not easy; sometimes, they make something inside hurt and shrink. They are about the diversity and uniqueness of human lives, emotions, and relationships; they are about the state of the soul (McKeon 1). However, these photos are beautiful, attractive, and fascinating, and each carries a specific message.

Conclusion

Thus, summarizing the above, it should be stated that “Close Enough” is a unique variety of photographs, the meaning of which is based on human relationships. “Close Enough” is a kind of attempt to answer complex and eternal questions about the essence and nature of humans in accordance with the understanding of the world and what surrounds them. The presented photos give completely different answers to these questions and offer the viewer to look at the existing reality from a completely different perspective.
