I believe human history is a perfect knowledge base that can teach humanity and new generations. One of the term’s definitions describes it as the study of how things changed over time (Lemos, 2020). It includes all spheres of society and activity, such as political, scientific, economic, cultural, religious, military, and other fields, playing an essential role in the evolution of the world (Lemos, 2020). In such a way, history focuses on everything, as every important event or change in the functioning of humanity is fixed and analyzed. Specialists try to collect information about past practices and experiences and describe them for current and new generations to possess a better understanding of how their predecessors lived. In such a way, these attempts contribute to the creation of the giant and a most inclusive knowledge base containing information about all things that happened in the past.
At the same time, history is a perfect teacher to help societies to evolve. Learning from past mistakes is one of the best ways to make new ones. Analyzing previous experiences, actions, decisions, and outcomes they promoted, people acquire the chance to make correlations and avoid similar results in the future. From this perspective, history is a critical factor fundamental for societies’ evolution and growth. Moreover, past experiences might offer numerous examples of a successful resolution of a particular problem or issue, which can be used regarding current situations or challenges (Lemos, 2020). For this reason, collecting information about predecessors, their communities, and interactions can be viewed as contributing to the future evolution of humanity and its ability to succeed in facing challenges similar to those that emerged in the past.
Finally, history can encompass a limitless number of facts explaining the nature of human societies. In other words, it explains who we are, why we exist, and why we are here. Analyzing the path humanity made in the past, it is possible to understand why it has specific features at the moment. In such a way, it highlights the character of people’s relations, visions, and hopes. From this perspective, it is possible to conclude that the civilized world cannot exist apart from the past as it is its integral part. Altogether, the meaning of history cannot be overestimated. It is a unique knowledge base that can teach individuals, and, at the same time, it is the core component of the world’s further evolution. Societies that reject history or do not study it will repeat past mistakes and collapse.
I believe that commitments to the virtue of justice, ethics, faith, and scientific investigation of the world are consistent with my worldview. I assume these are an essential part of my life, impacting my behavior and responses. For instance, I am sure justice is the core component of any society regulating relations between individuals. From my perspective, it implies not only criminal aspects; however, it is a broader concept that can be applied to all spheres. Treating people regardless of race, gender, age, or social status is fundamental. It means to act justly when interacting with these groups and avoid biased attitudes or stereotypical thinking. It will help to build better community relations and guarantee that people can interact and contribute to further development.
Ethics and faith are also two important commitments that are closely related. I assume that being ethical means acting in a way that cannot harm others. It also implies respect for other’s feelings, ideas, visions, and beliefs. In such a way, commitment to ethical behavior is necessary for all individuals who live in a diverse society and are ready to integrate with it. Ethics is closely linked to faith, as most religions teach people to be calm, respect others, and do good (Blackburn, 2021). It means that regardless of the numerous differences between people, it is always important to remember that every individual is valuable and should be respected. For this reason, an ethical worldview is critical for my life and shapes my behaviors.
Finally, commitment to science and scientific investigation are the other two important aspects of my life. The continuous investigation of the world and numerous unique phenomena surrounding humanity are the central elements of progress. It is impossible to move forward, not trying to investigate the Universe and broaden our horizons. At the same time, discoveries shape people’s mentalities and promote reconsideration of old, irrelevant, and outdated ideas. The development of humanistic sciences explained the unique value of every human being and cultivated the ideas of tolerance. The rise of medicine helped to improve the quality of people’s lives and change their attitude toward older people. In such a way, scientific investigation is one of the critical commitments of my life. I am sure that humanity should support research efforts to make discoveries. Altogether, the mentioned factors play a vital role in my life as I try to follow the mentioned ideas. It implies respect, support, no harm to others, and the desire to acquire a better understanding of how the world functions.
