Introduction

The human vision system consists of three essential parts – the eye, the lateral geniculation nucleus, and the cortex brain. These three parts are interconnected; thus, the failure of one component would lead to problems with vision. Maintaining a good vision should be a priority for every person since it is one of the essential senses in daily life. Moreover, it helps to detect, analyze, or avoid dangerous situations. In addition to a systematic professional vision check, one should take some precautions to maintain good vision throughout life, such as eating healthy food that consists of vitamins, wearing sunglasses to protect eyes from UV light, or taking screen breaks.

Main body

Eye professionals use several tests to check vision. First of all, they check visual acuity, which is a screening of the healthy functioning of the retina, the sharpness of its focus within the eye, and the sensitivity of the brain interpretive faculty. Check for Astigmatism detects whether any condition with the cornea causes a blurry vision. Light Sensitivity identifies the level of one’s ability to distinguish lighter or darker shades. Near Vision is the problem of clearly seeing closer objects, and those that are further become blurry. Color Vision detects the ability or inability to distinguish colors and their difference. AMD is age-related muscular degeneration, and it usually appears after the age of 50; therefore, it is essential to have one’s vision checked systematically, so the problem can be controlled and not deteriorate the quality of life. I have my vision checked often, and no apparent issues have been detected.

Conclusion

Some jobs require perfect vision; therefore, candidates and workers must have regular vision checks. Among those professions are pilots, firefighters, and police officers. The vision requirement is linked to the high level of dangers that occupants of these professions experience daily. Moreover, the lives of many other people depend on their physical ability to see clearly and act accordingly if a dangerous situation occurs, so that they can guarantee security for everyone.
