Introduction
Business communication is the concept of information sharing within and outside an organization. Effective business communication contributes to increased job satisfaction, work performance, and personal growth, which enhances the overall growth and success of every company. The internet enables effective and efficient business communication as it allows an organization to reach a broad audience at once, promotes faster message and feedback delivery, and enables it to gain information from anywhere at any time.
Internet and Business Communication
Internet use has allowed easier and instant communication between consumers, suppliers, and employees, thereby enhancing overall business operations and performance. It has done this through channels such as Facebook, email, and web conferencing. These channels help shrink time zones and geographic barriers hence enabling communication irrespective of receivers’ locations. In addition, the Internet allows business organizations to target their customers for marketing purposes (Jorgensen et al., 2022). For instance, Facebook contains boosted posts that help direct a post to a specific audience considering their location, interests, or even age. These boosted posts enable an organization to conduct online advertisements as they are considered ads, thereby increasing sales and brand awareness thus enhancing company performance.
Without the internet to enable faster information delivery within and outside an organization, companies will have to resort to using in-person message delivery, especially for a close audience. Companies will also have to use mail post to deliver handwritten letters, postcards, or even memos when needed to deliver messages or information to distant locations (Williams & Smith, 2022). These means of communication that are characterized by no internet use delay message delivery as it is time-consuming. Moreover, they are expensive to use as letters, postcards, or memos will have to be transported while messengers will have to travel long distances for them to be able to reach the required audience.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the internet has enabled faster and more efficient business communications by providing channels that make it easier for organizations to deliver information and messages to their audiences. Internet sites such as Facebook, email, and web conferencing help shrink time zones and geographic barriers hence enabling communication irrespective of receivers’ locations. Facebook, for instance, contains boosted posts that help direct a post to a specific audience about their location, interests, or even age. With no internet, companies will have to settle for in-person message delivery or mail posts which are time-consuming and expensive.
