Qualitative healthcare service provision is vital for both the patient and healthcare facility owners. It includes the professional work of the team, which is divided into specific parts, each of which plays an essential role. One of these parts is the NP (Nursing Practitioner), and the purpose of the work is to analyze its functions as a multidisciplinary team member and its role in evidence-based practice.
The Nursing Practitioner coordinates activities among the members of an interdisciplinary team, which makes its activity an integral part of the provision of medical services. It is also a fraction of the three aspects of qualitative healthcare: cooperation, reflective action, and analytical performance (Koutoukidis & Stainton, 2020). The multidisciplinary team is capable of a wide spectrum of activities that fall within professional care, however, it requires specific coordination. Accordingly, it formulates the role of the Nursing Practitioner in the aspect of a multidisciplinary team.
Evidence-based practice is an integral part of professional care in the medical field. It was defined as a problem-solving approach based on the pieces of evidence from related studies and works (Craig & Dowding, 2019). The NP plays an essential role in enhancing research and evidence-based practice in the team, namely by coordinating the professional approach. In addition, the evaluation of information and records is a fundamental aspect of evidence-based practice (Hopp & Rittenmeyer, 2021). The evaluation process is included in the range of activities of the NP, which formulates its influence on evidence-based practice. Moreover, it frames the NP’s role in providing improved outcomes on an interdisciplinary team. Namely, based on reliable practice based on evidence, one is able to deliver adequate medical services.
