Introduction
Stimulation theory explains the human desires that motivate them to do and accomplish a certain activity. Human beings will mostly be charged to participate or engage in an activity if they know of the benefits that come out of it. It is the desired goal and achievement that is attached to the activity that will inspire them to even overcome other challenges with the hope of achieving them.
Apart from the target in the human mind that they have in reaching a certain goal, there may be other external factors that play a greater role in influencing their behavior. Such factors may either make them reconsider their objectives or pursue them even more. An example that we will be focusing on is in the area of profession and career. This is a fundamental aspect of human development where individuals desire to better their skills and abilities. In the process of wanting to reach such heights; they may be encountered with situations that have an impact on how and when they achieve this.
Motivation Factors
People usually go to school with the main purpose of gaining knowledge that will enable them to be certain people in society. An individual will hence be selective on the subjects that they will choose to learn. Some of such courses and subjects may be of complex nature but the individual will pursue them anyhow with the full confidence of the subsequent benefits. There may also be other factors that may either motivate them to pursue the course or give up on it (Hutchison, 35). This may include some of the charges that they are to pay in the form of fees and other payments.
Some people may attempt to do complex courses simply because they have a motivation through sponsorship. As they grow towards achieving their career goals, there is that desire to move from one level to another. An employee will want to move from his or her position to a higher managerial position. There is usually no optimum that will be reached by them as they desire to even grow higher. Even when one has become CEO of a company, there is still the desire for them to either establish their own companies or to have other managerial positions in other organizations.
Conclusion
Motivation is a key factor that determines the levels that will be reached by an individual. There is a tendency within the human mind where they will not feel satisfied with their current status. The higher they go the more things they feel they need to achieve. It is mostly the success that a person has achieved that will also motivate their desire to pursue more.
It takes a lot of courage for a person that has had a number of failures to rise again. They will attempt different things with the hope that they will finally succeed in one. Their rate of growth and development will hence be slowed down compared to those that have enjoyed a series of successes (Hutchison, 56). The desire to grow is motivated by the need for an individual to not only satisfy their basic needs but also to be recognized. People will go to certain levels and extremes just to ensure they are given the recognition that they need. The more they are recognized, the more they are motivated to do more so that they are also appreciated.
