The Significance of Adult Education to the Economy Report (Assessment)

Introduction

The topics that were discussed in the course were actual, and thus, I find it interesting to comment what I have learned and how this information will help me to change perspective, how it is related to my experience, and how my outlook was influenced by the information gained during the process of education. There are two topics that I want to center my attention on, namely:

1. Adult education and the significance of adult education to the economy of the country;
2. ABE (Adult Basic Education) shortage of funding in British Columbia and the problem of refugees in the sphere of education.

Adult Education

The primary objective of the paper is to reflect the discussed topics that were stated above.

First and foremost, I would like to focus my attention on describing the first topic that was related to adult education and the significance it to the economy of the country. Education receives priority in the modern and digital world. The progress would be impossible without learning. Recent studies have already proved the existence of the link between academic achievements and success in the future the person is likely to have.

Thus, the ability to have access to educational programs is relevant not only for children but for adults as well. The fundamental point that I have realized during this course is that education does not stop after school or college graduation. Adult educational programs aim to deepen knowledge and provide an opportunity to master skills and improve qualification. The role of adult education should not be underestimated. The next thing that I understood due to this course is that adult education has several advantages; among them are the following ones, namely:

1. Adult education allows deepening professional knowledge and mastering the skills that are essential for career improvement;
2. Improvement of the potential and gaining of confidence in academic knowledge;
3. Skills and abilities gained while the process of adult education contributes to success at the workplace.

However, it should be pointed out that adult education has several challenges as well as advantages. The role of adult education is considered to be immense. Nevertheless, it is difficult to find the right balance between career, education, and private life.

Moreover, sometimes it can be difficult for people who have spent several years in a workplace to come back to the classroom. It is challenging to combine further education with a private life and a full-time job. Adult education promotes the well-being of the economy and nation in general. The more people strive for self-development, the greater chances are for those to get a high-paid job, and it consequently leads to an increase in the production and development of all the spheres of human activity.

ABE Shortage of Funding

The second topic was related to the ABE shortage of funding in British Columbia and the problem of refugees in the sphere of education. I found this topic vital for discussion and consideration as the problem of refugees is actual in the modern world, not only in Canada but almost in every country across the globe. To integrate fully into the community, immigrants and refugees should be provided with educational programs that will help them to receive a job and integrate into a foreign society.

To minimize the index of criminal activity of refugees, the government should be responsible for the creation of programs that will help refugees to adapt. I learned that programs created by ABE are essential for the successful adaptation of refugees, and it contributes to the improvement of the economic condition of the country. However, the shortage of funding for the programs for adults will consequently lead to a decreasing number of centers, and not everyone will have access to these programs. This issue should be taken into consideration.

Significance of the Course

The information that I have learned during this course inspired me to dedicate more time to the process of self-development and self-education. Moreover, I realized the significance of adult education to the economy of the country and personal success at the workplace.

Also, the course motivated me to think more about the problem of refugees and the significance of the programs provided by ABE. It is worth noting that due to the discussions I understood the true importance of education after graduation. Being a modern and progressive person, I would like to expand my world outlook and will dedicate time to mastering my professional skills and deepening knowledge after graduation.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I would like to point out that the information gained during the course impacted the way I see the adult and higher education. I realized the importance of constant development and improvement. The world changes every day with impressive speed and it is of paramount importance to keep pace with these changes and be flexible in gaining knowledge and mastering skills. The information that I have learned during the course will help me in my future career and motivated me to think about adult education programs and the problems of refugees.
