Course Description
Training is important for employees in all organizations, and it should be arranged at one point or another. Efficient education increases workers’ abilities and enhances the effectiveness of the whole organization, which leads to more positive performance outcomes (Blanchard & Thacker, 2019). This will be a two-day learning course for a sample of 100 top-level managers from 50 different firms, with each company having two representatives.
The induction will provide the managers with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to meet their current work responsibilities. Furthermore, it will prepare them to adapt to the changing trends in their jobs (Blanchard & Thacker, 2019). In terms of content, the course will cover the ability to communicate effectively, data-driven decision-making, conducting performance reviews, and how to provide and receive feedback. Additionally, it will focus on resolving employees’ disputes, crisis management, and how to engage and motivate.
Training Objectives
Training and continuous professional development can enhance the performance of the organization’s managers, middle—and lower-level employees, and employers. It is important that each staff member participate in work-related education at some point in their career, and if possible, it should be done a number of times. Learning objectives enable the trainees to know what the course intends to achieve (Blanchard & Thacker, 2019). This two-day training will have three learning objectives: developing managers’ feedback skills, understanding their performance reviews, and expanding their ability to motivate employees through role play.
Training Methods
Training is critical for all employees’ onboarding and retention purposes. Managers equally require induction to learn and develop their skills, and therefore, the methods used are important and competent. The best techniques must integrate three learning styles, including seeing or watching, listening to, and absorbing information, and education through action or by doing (Indeed Editorial Team, 2020). Therefore, this proposal intends to use instructor-led, role-playing, and case study approaches.
Instructor-Led Classroom Training
This method will involve a facilitator who will guide the trainees through various course topics and activities. In addition, it mimics a typical classroom environment where the instructor leads the experience using a lecture-style presentation with a visual component. It will give the learners real-time access to their teacher, thus making it easier for them to get instant feedback on their questions and discussions.
To make the session engaging, there will be a fusion of different strategies, which will involve switching between lectures, discussions, activities, and hands-on practices to enable the trainees to retain the information. Throughout the process, the lecturer will be able to adapt the curriculum to suit individual differences among the students (Cunneen, n.d.). Furthermore, the learners will have the opportunity to interact, build relationships, and share experiences.
Case Studies
Case studies will be used to enhance the trainees’ analytical and problem-solving skills. Imagined or real scenarios that depict normal work situations will be used. The learners will then be placed into groups of 10 and asked to analyze the cases and give the best possible solutions for each case. Due to its participatory and discussion-based approach to knowledge acquisition, it will enable the trainees to think critically, enhance their communication, and improve their group dynamics (Indeed Editorial Team, 2020). In addition, it will allow the students to explore the problem from various perspectives and promote their contextual learning.
Role-Playing
The role-playing method will be applied in situations where trainees act out different work scenarios. It will enable the managers to play the roles of customers and depict their real-time interactions with company employees (Indeed Editorial Team, 2020). In particular, they will practical try to solve or handle difficult situations involving their staff and clients. In addition, it will make them develop empathy for the clients when they act in the role of customers because they are able to understand the buyer’s viewpoint.
Training Content
The training will focus on soft skills such as empathy, communication, and treatment of the staff. These will help the managers to create a good relationship between them and the other employees. They will get skills in interviewing and selection, setting expectations and goals, performance reviews, improvement plans, work scheduling, motivating workers, conflict management, and data-based decision-making (SHRM, 2023). It will equally cover areas such as time management, organization, and delegation of work, team-building, negotiation, and managing change.
Training Room
The number of participants to be involved in this training will be bigger. Therefore, the training room will adopt the seminar/amphitheater–facilitation or meeting layout style (Morrison, 2018). Firstly, this design will accommodate all trainees in one hall. Secondly, it will enable the facilitator to see all the learners (Morrison, 2018).
Thirdly, it reduces the space between the teacher and the students since the instructor can freely move between the rows as they interact with the trainees. It will be equipped with medium-sized LCD and LED screens that will facilitate the display of information during the sessions. In addition, microphones mounted on each trainee’s table will enhance the quality of audio projection when they ask questions or respond to issues arising from the teaching. The entire room will have an excellent lighting system, as well as fast Wi-Fi connectivity for easy access to the internet to enable real-time research by the learners during lessons.
