Influential leaders are essential to any organization, including nursing. Leaders help build strong teams within organizations by ensuring that employees are successful and realize their potential. Communication skills, and interpersonal skills, with consideration for subordination, will enable each employee to become a leader. It is important to train this skill and regularly interact with the team to enhance the experience. People can observe examples of influential leaders and those who fail; it is essential to benefit from looking at their performance. Increasing employee participation in the work process, creating a healthy and competitive atmosphere, and addressing risks promptly differentiates a good leader from an ineffective one.
For subordinates, this type of leadership will open up opportunities for change and career advancement in nursing. My main job as a transformational leader is to initiate change and gradually incorporate it into the workflow (Boamah et al., 2018). Relying on intuition and sound strategic thinking, the ability to look ahead and identify a problem early will be a positive factor for nurses and the healthcare system (American Nurses Association, 2021). I must be a versatile leader who responds quickly and provides feedback (Scope of Nursing Practice). The ability to respond, analyze, and put into practice contributes to my ability to create a healthy atmosphere among supervisors and subordinates.
The most significant benefit to the work environment would be access to more information for me as both a teacher and a supervisor, which would allow me to leverage it in nursing care. The health care system needs to increase access to the value of information that remains relevant. I need to have real-time data to avoid risks and choose effective patient care strategies. Today’s health care system is vast, and every year it uses more and more technology to share experiences and analyze similar situations. I need to be versatile, study each case intelligently, and break down its details for nurses.
