Introduction
Treatment and intervention in organizational leadership are two notions which should not be confused. Having the relation to organization of the work in the company or dealing with some business, these two nations have a specific difference. Dealing with business world and leadership in particular, it is important to understand that the consideration of different spheres is inevitable.
The level of consideration may be different, on the one hand, leaders may just check what is going on, and on the other hand that may be involved in the working process. As it has already been mentioned dealing with the working process may be on different levels, treatment which is devoted to consideration and general dealing with the process without changing the already existing working scheme, and intervention which involves the impact on the working process and intrusion into its processes.
The Difference between Treatment and Intervention
Treatment is the consideration of the organizational processes with learning of the main tactics and their use. While treatment, the leader does not interfere in the organizational processes, he/she just uses the tactics which have been developed. The main idea of treatment is to consider what is going on and to apply the already existing knowledge and practices into use.
While treatment the leader becomes involved in the working process, however, he/she does not offer any new ideas and does not make any actions which may lead to the changes in the organizational process. Treatment may last for a short period of time. Depending on the organization, the scope of work and other characteristics the treatment of the organizational leadership processes may last for several hours, but if the scope of work is large, treatment may be lengthy.
The situation is absolutely different with involvement. The process of involvement is complicates and lengthy. The first stage of involvement is the consideration. It may be even said that treatment is the first stage of involvement. The leader is to check the working processes to understand which parts are to be corrected and where the work is successfully running.
The second stage of involvement is the implementation of the new scheme into the work. The leader interferes into the working process, he/she establishes new rules, and tries to correct the working process by means of influencing it directly. The final stage of intervention is the consideration of the outcomes of the intrusion. Therefore, the main idea of intervention is to change the ordinary working process while treatment just covers the dealing processes.
The Role of Organizational Leadership in the Implementation of Treatment Modalities and Intervention Techniques
The role of organizational leadership in the treatment modalities is rather high as treating the company methods of running business, the leader is to consider the organizational methods and therefore, the organizational leadership is involved. Depending on the ways of organizational leadership, the treatment modalities are applied. Zaccaro and Klimoski (2001) insist that organizational leadership is important in observing as these “practices help make assessment more palatable to self-important executives” (p. 336). Organizational leadership type defines the ways of treatment of the company and its specific methods of work.
The same is with the intervention. Depending on the type of organizational leadership and how the working process is organized, the intervention may be provided on different levels and with various intense. Understanding the type of the organizational leadership in the company, the managers are able to assess the level of the necessary intervention and to complete the desired tasks successfully. The organizational leadership importance is defined by its initial functions. Leaderships is the central way in running the company and intervention techniques are based on the methods how the company is run (Allcorn, 2005).
The Role of the Individual Employee in the Effective Implementation of Treatment Modalities and Intervention Techniques
The role of the individual employee in the effective treatment and intervention is important as well. No matter what happens in the company, all the members of the organizational process are involved in the process and each of the employees as well. It is important to define the level of each employee involvement while each of the processes as it is going to affect their functions. The role of the individual employee performance while involvement is much higher as in this case each employee is going to participate in the process while treatment may just presupposed the observation.
Conclusion
Therefore, it may be concluded that the difference between the involvement and the intervention processes is in the way how the company is interfered. While treatment, the interference may be invisible for employees as treatment reminds observing with drawing some conclusions. Intervention is a more complicated process which involves the changes in organization and considering the results of those changes. The role of organizational leadership and an individual employee while both intervention and treatment are important as these are the parts of the working processes which are under discussion.
