The video was shot in Patong Beach, Thailand. As it begins, the video shows the surrounding of the beach which is still full of people, then focuses on an approaching wave. As the video reaches the shores, it increases in amplitude and hits whatever it comes across as it makes its way on the mainland. The whole area around the beach becomes flooded as water moves at a high speed towards settlement areas, carrying with it everything that it finds on its way.

Video 2: Raw Tsunami Video Phuket Thailand 2004

At the beginning, a man is heard warning of an approaching tsunami. The area around the beach is all chaos as everybody rushes to escape the approaching tsunami which has now arrived at the beach. As a woman rushes to take shelter, the tsunami strikes with huge waves and water moving at very high speeds. An old couple tries to take shelter but is caught by the waves and only has to cling on a metal rail. The wave causes huge damage to the basement floor of the building as it sweeps everything away, including the tables, chairs, utensils.

Video 3: Raw Tsunami Video Sri Lanka Resort 2004

In this video, a tsunami wave hits a resort and takes with all the furniture that had filled the beach area just a few minutes earlier, leaving a clear path and great destruction. Even though almost everyone is safe, two people are trapped in the tsunami’s path. One person takes shelter on a nearby building while the second person hangs on a coconut tree. The whole beach area is submerged.

Japan Earthquake Tsunami

Video 1: Japan Earthquake: Helicopter aerial view video of giant tsunami waves

In this video, a helicopter gives an aerial view of the tsunami as it approaches the shoreline. From the video, we observe that there are a series of waves whose heights increase as they move closer to land. As the tsunami hit the land, it takes with it all the large buildings along its path as they form part of the debris (Rawtsunami, 2009).

Video 2: Japan Earthquake 2011 – Japan Tsunami 2011.mp4

This video shows a tsunami wave arriving on the mainland and, amazingly, the huge volume of water from the sea tosses cars like they are toys. Many vehicles form part of the debris as the waves move towards the mainland. As the waves move further, it drags along more cars that had been parked earlier, creating huge destruction as it moves along. Large buildings are also destroyed and dragged along with the water (Rawtsunami, 2009).

Video 3: Tsunami Climbing: Incredible video of ship heading into wave in Japan

This video features a Japanese coast guard ship facing a wave that is fast approaching land, although still at a distant. The massive length and height of the wave are easily evident from the video (Rawtsunami, 2009). The crew in the ship takes snaps of the approaching wave.

Effects of Japanese Tsunami in the US

Video 1: March 11, 2011 – Japan Tsunami Tide Effects – Oahu Hawaii (Video #1)

The video is shot four hours after the initial tsunami waves arising from the Japanese earthquake were felt in Oahu, Hawaii. Although the waves arrive at Oahu beach, they are not large to cause any destruction. In fact, they die as soon as they arrive on land. However, there is a significant surge in the water level.

Video 2: Japan Tsunami hitting California in Alameda

Similar to the Japanese tsunami effects in Hawaii, there are a series of surges in water levels at Alameda in California. This surge causes water to rush out from the sea into the land aided by wind motion, but there is no destruction recorded as the waves are very small.

Impact of tsunamis on the coast

Tsunamis have a huge negative impact on coast as they cause human death, suffering and also cause huge economic losses. The losses are normally devastating if there are no warning systems.
