Almost all human beings are capable of coming up with new ideas because we are all endowed with brains. However, not all have achieved this despite the fact that we all have brains. Then, the questions that beg for answers are: Why can’t all humans come up with new ideas if we all have functional brains? Where do the new ideas come from? To get the answers to these all important questions, one does not have to scour and scar the ground nor spend numerous hours in the scientific laboratories.
The successes of great men like Isaac Asimov point to a readymade and definite answer: creativity. Such men, with no formal education on numerous topics, have achieved and contributed so much to the advancement of knowledge that it would be difficult to believe that they never had any formal training in such fields. They have come up with great ideas that have lived beyond their years.
However, it is important to note that creativity stems from a strong desire and not only from the amount of knowledge that one possesses in any field. To come up with new ideas, one must have a strong passion which can endure the many challenges that come in the way of creativity. Armed with this, even ordinary folks with no formal education can be creative enough to come up new ideas.
Even in this day and age when computers and machines are taking over most of man’s activities and life seems boring, human beings still have the space to work and come up with new ideas. Machines and computers are limited in their thinking; they can only do what they are programmed or commanded to do by human beings. This leaves a vacuum; a creativity vacuum that needs to be filled by human beings. Even though the computers and machines have almost left us with nothing to do, all is not lost.
We can still embark on those endeavors that require creativity. It is these creative endeavors that bring to life new ideas. Through creativity, we can come up with new ideas for making new machines and computers, for repairing the machines and computers and improving on the technology we used on the existing ones.
However, to indulge in creative endeavors, the brain must be engaged into creative thinking at an early age when we are still young and active. The brain should be exposed to challenges that require creativity at an early stage for it to be creative enough as age advances. This is because using just a small bit of one’s brain over an extended period of time would beat creativity out such an individual.
Hence, with creativity dwindling, chances of such individuals coming up with new ideas would be almost impossible. Thus, children who are educated into appreciating their creativity no matter how stupid their ideas may appear to be would most probably be creative (Youtube). As they grown, they will have higher probability of coming up with novel ideas as a result of their creativity.
In contrast, children who are not allowed to do their thinking on their own would generally find it difficult to be creative, hence, coming up with new ideas would be an uphill task even at old age. All in all, everyone endowed with a properly functional brain is likely to be creative and come up with new ideas especially when the efforts aimed at creative thinking are channeled properly and at the right age.
