The publics of the world support the idea of globalization. Thus, aspects such as multinational corporations, free markets and trade have been encouraged. Nonetheless, publics are not supporting the negative aspects related to globalization. For example, immigration facilitates adverse effects on the locals’ culture and surroundings. Thus, this has contradicted the positive impacts associated with global trade.
While the Asian economic powers (China and India) channel their resources toward global trade, American and Western Europe are not supporting global trade. In fact, globalization and other social and economic forces are reshaping the world. This has seen to it that there is a conflict between morality and religion. Effects of Globalization have hindered free speech, honest elections and fair trials in developing countries. Nonetheless, gender equality has been on the rise in regard to education.
Benefits of globalization
Globalization has seen to it that there are improvements in developing countries. This is evident in the market and commerce sectors. In spite of the disparities between the poor and the rich, it is believed that most people are doing well under capitalism. In East Europe and Latin America there have been improvements in financial sectors. This has been achieved through the support of free market. This has seen to it there is increased satisfaction and personal progress.
However, there are concerns about globalization. Publics are disturbed about maintaining their cultures and identities. Thus, there is the need to protect the public’s culture against foreign influences. It is believed that immigration brings about cultural influence, and it is a threat to a country’s culture and people’s way of life.
Immigration Fears
Immigration has been associated with negative influence on the culture of other countries. Thus, restrictions have been enacted to control and contain immigration. Countries like the United States and some countries in Europe had tight restrictions five years ago. This has reduced and risen in other countries. For instance, Italy is one of the countries with the tightest restrictions regarding immigration. In addition to Italy, Jordan has also tightened its immigration restrictions from 48% to 70% within a period of five years.
Religion and Social issues
Most people from the Middle East, Africa and Asia believe that morality and good values can be achieved through having faith in God. Besides, 57% of Americans believe that, for a person to have good values and morals, they must believe in God. The rest disagrees on this aspect.
As well, there is a relationship that encompasses religion and economic situations of nations. Religion remains common in poor nations while the developed nations exercise secularism. This is evident across the whole world apart from a few nations. For instance, the United States is associated with richness and religion.
Other countries include those within the Middle East. Apart from being rich in oil deposits, they are also extremely religious. A good example is the kingdom of Kuwait which is extremely religious and rich in oil deposits.
