A general essay format is easy to adhere to if properly executed, while an advanced essay format is just as easy and expandable as per requirement.
Adherence to an essay format is perhaps one of the essential elements of a well-written essay. In cases where no essay format is followed, it is a commonplace to expect a poor grade and an even poorer review. In order to keep things as simple as possible, most students choose to make use of a standard essay format.
The standard essay format is composed of three basic parts. The first part is the introduction that usually makes up about a paragraph or so. In this part, the reader is introduced to the subject of the essay and the thesis. The second part of the standard essay format is the body in which arguments are given in favour of or against the thesis. The essay format brings the essay to a close in which the final conclusion is given based on the discussion in the previous part of the format, namely the body.
A more advanced essay format that is more or less a derivation of the standard essay format seeks to divide an essay into five parts. In this essay format, the first part remains the same as it is in the traditional essay format, the introduction. The second part of this essay format introduces the first argument and argues over the first argument. The second part of the essay format introduces the second argument, and the same process is repeated with the third party until the essay comes to a close in the fifth part, the conclusion. It is imperative to note that this essay format considers three arguments to be valid and sufficient for an adequate discussion to be carried out and can therefore be extended as per requirement.
