Introduction
Today, America’s civilization is at stake because many outside societies hate Americans values and their way of life. Because of the destructive nature of terrorism, America has committed itself to eradicate this evil from the face of the earth (Baylis, 2010). However, in order to achieve this goal, America should devise a mechanism that can help it to understand the best strategies to adopt in order to handle terrorism related incidences in an efficient manner (Tuck, 2001). The types of strategic analysis that America should consider in order to emerge successful in the war on terror include technical, tactical, and operational strategies (Baylis, 2010). Therefore, the goal of this paper is to identify the type of strategic analysis that America should adopt in order to emerge successful in the war on terror.
Discussion
In order to win the war against terror, there are certain issues that the American society should address. First, the American government should identify the groups that are associated with terrorist onslaught (Tuck, 2001). Moreover, the government should take time to understand the motive behind terrorist attacks.
Terrorists are supported by sovereign states
Studies reveal that most terrorist attacks are facilitated by sovereign states. This is true because international terrorism would not survive for a long time without external support. Therefore, it is evident that terrorist states hide, train and arm terrorists to help to conduct terrorist activities in an efficient manner. Moreover, these states provide terrorists with money, operational and intelligence support to allow them to carry out the terrorist activities in a precise manner (Tuck, 2001). As a result, the terrorists manage to attack powerful nations undetected.
Terrorist states facilitate international propaganda
Terrorist states usually facilitate international propaganda campaigns in order to ensure that terror is legalized. However, in order to ensure that this does not happen, the American society should devise ways that can allow it to take away state support on international terrorism in order to render it ineffective. To do this, the American government should study the international terrorist network to help it identify the supporters of international terrorism and disarm them completely (Baylis, 2010). This is because most terrorist states form the terror network and they also support themselves operationally and politically.
Operational strategies
In order to bring an end to terrorist attacks, the American government should devise ways of dismantling the entire terrorist network. In case any part of the terrorist network remains, it would rebuild itself and carry out other terrorist attacks. In order to be effective in bringing an end to international terrorism, America should build a global coalition with other countries to help it fight terrorism (Baylis, 2010). It should also conduct military operations in order to weaken the terrorist states.
Moreover, the American government should conduct operations whose main objective would be to provide humanitarian relief and freedom to the people who are being oppressed in Afghanistan and other terrorist states. In addition, the American government should initiate operations that would freeze terrorists’ assets and impose restrictions on money that facilitates terrorist activities (Baylis, 2010). Moreover, the American government should exploit its intelligence capabilities to help it track and apprehend terrorists who cannot be traced easily (Tuck, 2001).
Conclusion
Therefore, it is true that operational strategies would be effective in terms of allowing America to emerge successful in the war on terror.
