Introduction
The autism spectrum is a concept introduced by scientists in order to capture the group of similar behavior violations that manifest themselves in different ways. Despite the fact that children or people suffering from autism have certain common characteristics, the aspects of this health condition can be very different. Therefore, the term “autism spectrum” means the whole variety of these indicators.
Groups of Violations
It is important that these behavioral features are caused by difficulties in human development and problems in the work of the central nervous system. Nevertheless, the manifestations of the autism spectrum also depend on the intellectual abilities of the person and his or her age. At present, three groups of violations have been singled out:
- Difficulties that appear in social interaction;
- Problems that occur in verbal and non-verbal interaction;
- Problems in behavior.
Quite often, these problems are accompanied by learning difficulties, which makes the situation more complicated. Many scientists believe that the main disease belonging to the spectrum is autism; however, this statement is wrong. The concept includes such states as Asperger syndrome and unspecified pervasive disorders in development. However, as mentioned above, the features of each condition are individual for every person since for some people the autism spectrum can cause small communication difficulties and for others – special assistance or educational program might be needed.

It is interesting that the nature of these violations does not depend on the education of a person or the influence of parents. Also, people with abnormalities of the autism spectrum deliberately do not want to stick to the norms of social behavior, and making them behave in a special way is not correct. Therefore, such aspects of behavior should be considered individual features of personality rather than problems in a person’s upbringing.
