The materials used while studying at this course were very helpful in understanding the legal risks involved in any business activity. In the daily operations of any business, various legal obstacles and necessities dog the successful operations in place (Cheeseman, 2010).
Hence, the materials provided in this course were essential in demystifying the myths associated with operating a business legally. The materials were useful in explaining the business operations and explaining in detail all those factors that most people are hardly aware of when doing business. Businesses end up in legal suits because of lack of knowledge on the legal processes. Hence, the course materials may be regarded as really insightful.
What I experienced in the course was definitely adequate. All those things and information which I expected to get from the course were all explained in detail and elaborated. The necessary terms and processes that had been very difficult to understand earlier are now easy to understand and operate. The course offered more than the mere information needed. Given an opportunity to make a suggestion, it would be wonderful if a module on business ethics were introduced into the course materials because very often ethics has much to do with the legal problems business enterprises have to face.
However, I do not see any need to change anything as such. Every other piece of information is very good. I loved all the discussion questions for the course since they were particularly helpful in making us comprehend everything that we needed to understand. Most difficult concepts in the course became easy to define and explain. I would even suggest that more questions need to be added to better the understanding of students in the future.
For students to understand the legal processes involved in the business environment better, I believe that the Learning Team activity was very useful. Creating proposals by the students to manage a business’s legal exposure is one of the best tactics which will assist students in achieving a practical outlook into the question. This gives students an opportunity of internalizing the course concepts and creating proposals that touch on the various aspects of the course materials offered.
The team activity was meant to incorporate all team members in the process of developing the proposal. However, I feel that the tasks were not evenly distributed among the team members because some members had a casual outlook and failed to fully participate leaving only the project officials to do most of the work. This does not mean that they did not get involved. They participated in some ways. The mistake is that what they did or contributed to, was minimal and other members felt overwhelmed with the numerous tasks that they were involved into.
In my opinion the above stated problem with the team activity can be adequately dealt with. Team members can adequately participate in the activity if the tasks are equally shared according to enormity of the subject. To make the team members interested in the activity, it would be important to note that putting marks for an individual member’s participation will force those who are not serious about the work. In the end, each team project will be superior and the proposals will be done in a better way since everyone will be interested in scoring high marks.
