Introduction

In this task, I will review three programs that I am going to highlight in my job interview. These programs best represent my career and field of study, as well as my experiences and successes within the course. The selection of these three classes and their respective objectives was based on how they will affect both my current and future professional goals. The three programs that have the most effect are BUSN 311 Law and Ethics in the business environment, BUSN 410 Critical thinking strategies for business decision, and ACCT 105 Accounting for non-accounting majors.

BUSN 311 Law and Ethics in the Business Environment

This is one of my favourite classes because I believe that following the law and acting ethically when conducting business is crucial. Among the objectives of the course that really stood out to me was defining the legal environment as it applies to business scenarios. Other outstanding objectives of this course were analyzing the distinct differences that exist between current ethical issues and major forms of intellectual property protection arising from intellectual property law. We were instructed to examine global concerns without attaching any value judgments or opinions to our analysis, and to make our decisions only on the basis of current laws and the evidence presented.

In this class, we discussed numerous topics related to intellectual property, such as the ethics of cloning and the process of cloning. Even though this is not a brand-new notion, it definitely crosses into an ethical one. Since successful cloning has the potential to save lives, I think it is important to consider both sides of the debate (Halbert & Ingulli, 2020). But if we clone to harvest, we are essentially killing the life we made. Although I would like to think and live an ethical life, I have learned a lot from this class about the challenges between what is and is not considered an acceptable behaviour in the business environment. Such knowledge and skills form a critical foundation in my future career and profession.

BUSN 410 Critical Thinking Strategies for Business Decision

This course’s objective was on using critical thinking skills to identify problems, analyse different approaches to reaching decisions, and weigh the moral consequences of those decisions. The objectives of this class were met through assignments, discussion posts, and a final paper on critical thinking strategies. After finishing this course, I was able to articulate the complicated connection between language and communication. As one’s language and comprehension patterns become clear, so too does that person’s way of thinking. I realised that one may overcome the difficulty by using one’s intellect and language.

Moreover, I discovered how to determine the reliability of various publications, websites, and articles. Organizations and staff members that can demonstrate analytical reasoning and present factual data are in high demand (Birkan & Yaşar, 2021). Because I am such a fantastic candidate, I want to make sure that the information and data one is receiving comes from a reliable source. Future employers may use this data to make sure decision-making skills are transferable to a variety of workplace scenarios, and that they have access to the tools they need to guarantee their hiring decisions are sound.

From the knowledge and skills gained from this course, I can assist businesses on the Internet by introducing them to a fresh way of thinking about using social media and websites. Even while the Internet may help businesses reach more customers, many still do not know how to use it effectively. In order to stay up with technological advancements, it is beneficial to retain a workforce that is relatively youthful and well educated.

ACCT 105 Accounting for Non-accounting Majors

The objectives of this class were to explain the function of accounting in the corporate world. Illustrate how accounting activities have an influence on financial statements. Determine the components and function of every financial statement. Analyze how the Sarbanes-Oxley Act has affected internal controls. Recognize the elements and applications of financial analysis. The objectives of this class were met through discussion posts, assignments, PowerPoint presentations and a final paper that focused on managerial and financial accounting.

This course was meant as an introductory level course to examine the basic of accounting process. It is meant to teach students things like business terminology, data manipulation, and other relevant subjects for your future career. When the role of accounting in business is clarified, it becomes clear that each objective contributes to a deeper appreciation of accounting’s importance (Owusu et al., 2019). Learning from past mistakes and using new knowledge requires an appreciation of accounting’s role and significance within a business. Most importantly, we learned why checks and balances are necessary, as seen by the events leading up to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, since not all businesses adhere to ethical standards. We can apply what we know about accounting’s building blocks, procedure, and financial analysis to real-world company scenarios. Knowledge and skills from this class are relevant to the workforce as they equip workers with relevant ideas on understanding accounting components, financial analysis, and significance of ethical standards.

Conclusion

Everything we have learned in these classes, from the lectures to the discussion posts and assignments, is directly related to the business world and the way a company runs in accordance with all applicable laws and ethical standards. That is why I specifically chose these three classes: BUSN 311 Law and Ethics in the business environment to showcase, BUSN 410 Critical thinking strategies for business decision, and ACCT 105 Accounting for non-accounting majors.
