Salah Almulla is the health practitioner who specializes in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of the oral cavity diseases. He has worked in Kuwait for not more than a year. One sought to interview him through Skype to get to know how and why he ventured into this career. It is one of those careers that attract people who want to venture into medicine. The doctor graduated from VCU in the year 2014.
Mr. Salah Almulla may not have made a decision on what career prospects he wanted to venture into before high school. He had gone to gain knowledge in school and perhaps made a decision afterwards about his career. Towards the end of his senior year in high school, he decided to become a dentist. It was one of the most important decisions he has made. Since then, he has never regretted about it at all.
Salah had visited several dental offices to get to know about the profession in a real life. It must have been a very difficult task for him. He asked questions and discussed his ideas with some dentists to get to understand the career. What he learned enabled him to make the wise move towards the job he wanted. He needed to join an institution that would train him to become a better dentist. It would enable him to serve people with passion and enthusiasm.
He joined a college and spent three years of pre-dental studies. It was important for him to take that journey because it would acquaint him with the necessary skills and provide with the knowledge for the next level. He had a minor in chemistry. The pre-dental studies prepared him for the following four years in the dental school. It was such an exciting learning experience for him. He knew that his career required hard work and determination.
Experience in the Field and employment Opportunities
Due to the need for dentists of his caliber, the Ministry of health employed him. He has worked there for almost a year. His place of work is in Kuwait. He is okay with the type of practice he is currently pursuing. But he has a desire to keep climbing higher in his career. He looks forward to working in the private sector as a solo or group practice.
The dentist career has got its positive aspects. It is all about communication. He is delighted at how many lives he has touched. When he meets the people he has impacted, and they feel satisfied with his work, it gives him the hope.
He is always happy to see what great confidence the patients have in his skills and how he applies them to make their lives better. However, there is only one issue, that requires the attention of the stakeholders. He has figure out that because of the nature of the job, some dentists experience physical injuries and disabilities in the neck and back. He says that many of them have acquired such a problem and sometimes felt it.
Continuing Education Prospects and Choice of Specialty
The eagerness to keep improving himself has continued to drive him through his work. Due to the ever growing and changing nature of medicine, he has intentions of continuing his education. In the meantime, he has managed to attend about two dental conferences. He is determined. In just less than a year since graduation, he seeks to know what others are doing worldwide and wants to be in the forefront.
Mr. Salah Almulla has discovered that he doesn’t just need to be a general practitioner in the dentist career. He wants to specialize in Prosthodontics or Endodontics. He will make a decision later about which one would be better for him.
He remembers his time at the dental school. He did not have free time because he always kept himself busy with his studies. He also had to do the lab work after classes. That meant that he did not have time for enjoyment activities.
After graduating, he is still working hard to keep up to speed with his intentions. Although he has some free time, he does not want to waste it. He intends to concentrate on building his career step by step until he achieves his primary goal. He intends to finish the school quickly so that he can devote the rest of the life to his professional career.
Comparison between the US and Kuwait
He is a man who keeps himself up to speed with the current affairs of the world. He compares the working conditions in the United States of America and Kuwait. He thinks that as a general practitioner, one would have better working conditions in the US. He has to work for at least five years to start his practice in Kuwait. The health laws between the two countries are slightly different. In Kuwait, a dentist needs to be specialized in one sphere in order to have better chances in the health sector.
