Broward County, Fort Lauderdale (February 26, 2013) – Project Beisbol, a baseball and softball charity that operates in Latin America, is organizing its first annual charity softball and cultural festival on April 7 in order to raise money for its charitable programs.
The cultural festival will provide an avenue for cultural expression for all participants as well as an opportunity for potential donors to provide donations for distribution to needy youth teams in Latin America. The goal of the Project Beisbol is to support youth teams faced with higher economic needs to achieve a sense of community and collaboration. The project’s main work is the collection and distribution of donated baseball and softball supplies to deserving youth teams in Latin America.
The main event in the festival will be the charity softball tournament. The organizers hope to register eight teams made up of nine members each. Individuals interested in participating in the tourney will pay a nominal fee of twenty dollars via PayPal, check, or credit card, after which the organizers will assign them to a team.
As a show commitment to gender equality in sports, the organizers will ensure that each team has at least four people from one gender. Interested people will register either individually, or as teams. The organizers plan to group those who come individually into teams of approximately the same strength.
Music and food will be the main cultural aspects of the festival. The organizers have made plans to avail food that reflects the cultural diversity of its stakeholders. In addition, the music from the region will help create the ideal environment for the festival.
Cultural enthusiasts will have a rare chance to experience subtle elements of local culture such as dressing, social interaction, and the world famed Latin American cuisine. Project Beisbol hopes to make this softball tournament and cultural festival a permanent fixture of the annual calendar of Lauderdale. This means that the event, if held annually from this year henceforth, will form part of the cultural heritage of Lauderdale.
While the main event in the festival will be the softball tournament, the organizers of the charity softball and cultural festival hope to raise funds through several ways. There will be sales of tickets to those who want to watch the tournament. The organizers will also make money from the sale of food. In addition to these, there are plans to make commissions from the sale of music and art. The organizers also hope to raise funds through a raffle that will take place during the cultural festival.
The organizers will seek sponsorships from attendants ranging from twenty-five dollars to over one thousand dollars. Corporate sponsors, termed as MVP sponsors, who have confirmed their participation in the event include DHL Express and Storall. Apart from financial sponsorships, the organizers are also expecting equipment donations from attendants to the festival. After all, the charity exists to provide baseball and softball equipment to needy youth clubs of Latin America.
Apart from the primary activities relating directly to the fundraising efforts of Project Beisbol, the organizers have made plans to ensure that all the people who attend the festival will have many fun activities to keep them engaged. Fun activities under consideration include speed pitch and dunking tank. The final collection of fun activities will depend on the final ideas the organizers settle on from the current growing list of potential activities.
