Education is one of the most important spheres which should play primary role in any society. However, in many countries governments pay quite little attention as there are lots of issues (which seem more urgent) to address. Of course, development of educational system depends on the economic situation in the country. Thus, educational system in the USA is well-established and well-developed. However, in Afghanistan there are a lot of issues to be addressed to.
Comparing the two countries in terms of education, it is possible to note that there are a number of similarities. Thus, the governments proclaim that education should be the major priority as it is the basis of the country’s future. In both countries, there are private and public educational establishments. There are higher educational establishments and schools in both countries. These are major similarities.
As far as differences are concerned, they are more numerous. In the first place, there are lots of educational facilities in the USA and all citizens can access education.
However, in Afghanistan, the number of educational facilities is not enough. Now new educational establishments are being built and many schools are opening. Nonetheless, this is not enough. It is necessary to note that US children have lots of opportunities to develop a variety of skills. In Afghanistan, young people have few opportunities and many young people do not have access to education.
First of all, many children do not attend school as they have to work to support their families. Children simply have no time to go to schools and higher educational establishments. Furthermore, there are thousands of homeless children. Military conflicts and unstable economic situation in the country have contributed to the increase of homeless children.
At the same time, physical punishment is still practiced in Afghanistan and children are being physically punished for being unprepared for the class. Teachers may cause severe traumas to children, which also makes children reluctant to attend schools. In the USA, children are encouraged to go to school. Educators try to motivate children to learn and continue their studies. Accessibility of a variety of facilities helps educators encourage children to obtain higher education.
It is important to note that child rights are not protected in Afghanistan. In the USA, children are protected by the US government. There can be no physical or even psychological violence against a child. Violation of these laws and regulations will lead to quite severe punishment.
In Afghanistan, laws protecting child rights hardly exist. Child rights are violated all the time. Though, everyone understands that children should be protected and that children should be at schools, the government of Afghanistan can do little to improve the situation.
To sum up, it is necessary to note that the child practice in Afghanistan and the USA differ to a great extent as in the USA child rights are protected by the US government. In Afghanistan, there are some laws and regulations protecting child rights, but these are not enough to truly protect children.
Due to the difficult economic situation in Afghanistan, the number of educational facilities is insufficient and education is inaccessible for many children. On the contrary, there are lots of educational facilities in the USA and there are many opportunities for children in this country. However, it is necessary to note that the government of Afghanistan is trying to address issues existing in this sphere.
