Canada has recorded the highest carbon emission growth among the G8 nations since 1990 to 2008 according to MacDonald. The Harper government has done little to ensure implementation of the agreements to reduce emissions. The government resulted to boardroom discussions; discussions they are not ready to implement. Therefore, McDonald fairly criticizes the ruling government and presents a realistic and workable plan of going green.

Green energy involves use of non-renewable solar and wind energy and a shift from the use of hydro-generated energy. Since governments around the globe have failed in their commitment to reduce emissions, going green remains the only option. Government input in implementation of a green economy is not important but only necessary. Policies will need to be passed in parliament to pave way for the implementation not withstanding budget allocations in the same.
