Ethical code refers to a set of rules designed to help uphold professional conduct revolving around honesty and integrity. Most organizations have ethics documents outlining the values and mission alongside how workers are expected to function (Newsome & Gladding, 2017). For instance, the ACA’s ethical values involve upholding human development by using the multicultural method to support the potential, worth, and dignity of people in their cultural and social settings.
The NBCC values require the protection of the client’s privacy by ensuring no information is shared without the proper consent of the owner. Moreover, CRCC ethics requires adequate treatment of others by providing justice, fidelity, honor, and trust among rehabilitation counselors (Newsome & Gladding, 2017). The ASCA standards require counselors in schools to consider the language skills, age, and competence levels when giving students an assessment in various programs.
In addition, one of the APA ethical standards requires psychologists to avoid associations that have the potential to impair their professional routine or harm others. The AAMFT code of operation requires therapists to provide desirable assistance to their clients without undue discrimination based on ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, religion, or health status. Additionally, the NASW organization code of standards asserts that social workers must provide services to their clients only in the context of the technological basis on valid consent or when deemed necessary (Newsome & Gladding, 2017). Finally, the ethical standard in NOHS asserts that the essential value in human service involves upholding the welfare and dignity of every person by advocating for integrity, honoring diversity, and acting with genuineness. These standards are significantly considered in decision-making to address issues of human behavior in professional services. They ensure respect for the human dignity and autonomy of various clients.
