Recall Process

With the development of products and technologies, the customers are provided with the ability to purchase a wide range of goods. However, it is worth noting that technologies and innovations are not always considered to be beneficial for a consumer because innovative products can be recalled because of the issues of safety. Food products can also be recalled in case they can potentially harm the person. The primary purpose of the paper is to examine the consumer recall process and discover the companies that sell consumer goods and has had a material recall within five years.

Sometimes the companies recall products. It is a common practice; however, it is worth highlighting that the recall of the commodities might affect the reputation of the company. Nevertheless, enterprises should remember that human life should receive the highest priority and concern and should be respected and valued. As soon as the company discovers potential health-related or safety issues that are associated with the usage of the product, the organization should recall the product and announce it publicly (Lyck, 2009). Also, the company provides the clients with the refund or fixes the issue and gives the good back to the customer.

According to recent research, over 2,000 products are recalled every year across the United States. Tesla Motors, Sun Noodle, Ford, Royal Frozen Fruit, and Best Foods are one of the examples of the companies that recalled their products within the last five years. Tesla Motors recalled their electric vehicles because of safety issues. The seatbelt in Model S contained possible danger. The process of product recall is rather complicated. For the company to protect the consumers, they need to recall the commodity as quickly as possible for people not to get hurt by the product that is unsafe or can cause damage.

The process of recalling the product should be prepared, and the attention of the media is an integral component in this process. The safety requirements are essential to be taken into consideration. The product should be safe and not cause any damage to health; otherwise, it should be recalled (Lussier, Corman, & Kimball, 2015). There are certain legal standards and regulatory ones that coordinate the process.

The process of a product recall can be performed according to the following steps, namely:

  1. The discovery of the safety issues associated with the product – initiation of the recall process;
  2. Determination of the strategies of the recall process and recall classification;
  3. Warning the public concerning the safety issues or potential health problems associated with the usage of the product – press release;
  4. Audit and control of the product recall process;
  5. Termination of the recall process (Vanderbeck & Mitchell, 2015).

It is significantly important for the company to make sure that as many people are aware that the product should be recalled as possible. First and foremost, it should be stressed that the reason for public announcement and press releases can be found in the dimension of security and care of the customers. The corporation should take appropriate actions for the consumers not to get affected because of the defective product.

In conclusion, it should be noted that the process of recall is rather complicated; however, the companies should perform it as fast as possible for the consumer not to get affected by the good. It is worth pointing out that as soon as the company discovers any possible or potential safety issues associated with the usage of the product, it should recall it as the human life has the biggest value and priority.
