It seems to me that Hayden noticed important details and emphasized a direct approach to the abolition of the problem of underage drinking. Walking around shops and talking to drivers can be very rewarding, and these practices are suitable for young police officers (Worrall, 2018). In addition, young and not yet very experienced police officers will be more successful in dealing with teenagers trying to buy alcohol. Additional preventive work can be special meetings with police officers in middle and high schools. In addition to notations that are usually tiresome for schoolchildren, police officers who specialize in working with minors can show movies about the dangers of drinking alcohol.
I agree with Hayden that communication with pawnshops is essential in the fight against burglary and drug trafficking. In addition, among drug dealers or people who use drugs regularly, the police may have an informant. Burglary requires at least a minimum of training, and it can be assumed that, most likely, a group of people is engaged in this business and not any drug addict experiencing withdrawal. In addition, the ill-conceitedness of some actions (breaking into an apartment with people) may tell the investigators that young drug addicts, rather than professional drug dealers, are most likely involved in this case. Perhaps apartment burglars have become hostages of the internal system and are now suffering blackmail from other drug addicts (Worrall, 2018). For such internal replays, informants are well suited and significantly reduce the time of catching a criminal.
In my opinion, the fight against vagrancy requires special efforts, and those proposed by Hayden may not justify themselves. Many vagrants are immigrants, former drug addicts, and people suffering from serious illnesses such as HIV or others (Worrall, 2018). The police should work in tandem with pawnshops and homeless shelters, as in this case. Patrolling is essential and will help reduce the number of beggars and even protect the townspeople from petty theft (for example, if their phone or money is taken from their pocket).
