The role and place of the cyber practice turn out to be the crucial aspects for consideration today. People want to know if it is necessary to be careful with the possibilities that become available with the cyber practice if it is reasonable to be on the alert and consider any change and its possible impact. There are many ways of how cyber practice and its consequences may influence stakeholder’s values. For example, stakeholders are the creators of a local blog about the current events in a college. Such stakeholders spend much time online and have to deal with the different effects of cyber practice frequently.
On the one hand, they have to consider their role responsibilities, provide people with correct information, follow the law, and stay loyal to personal principles. On the other hand, such stakeholders should consider the idea of human rights and combine the idea of their personal expression freedom with the rights of other people to have personal space and opinions. In the chapter, it is mentioned that human rights “have a very strong presumption in their favor: they bind us unconditionally, taking priority over many other types of value” (Chapter Seven 8).
Taking into consideration such a diverse nature of the activities and responsibilities, the cyber practice the chosen group of stakeholders prefers may be characterized by two types of outcomes. First, such cyber practice as the creation and support of an online blog has to be ethical approval. It means that any article or thought offered in the blog should be “consistent with due moral regard for each stakeholder” (Chapter Seven 9). Second, the developer of the blog has to consider the possible impact of the context on any other stakeholder (a person, who is discussed in the blog). Therefore, the chosen cyber practice influences stakeholder’s values considerably. It does not only predetermine the quality of work that should be offered but also the number of people, who can be involved and approve their participation.
In this situation, it is possible to identify two stakeholder values and categorize them in order to comprehend their levels of the moral force in context and learn how to deal with the dilemma properly. On the one hand, there is a value category called human rights that presupposes the idea of expression freedom. Such value has an overriding moral force that can be limited with the help of law. It means that it is not enough for bloggers to introduce ethically approved information.
It is more important to make sure all facts and methods do not contradict the existing law and social expectations of people. In other words, such stakeholders as bloggers have to understand their rights and possibilities and do respect the rights and freedoms of other people. On the other hand, there is such value category as role responsibilities according to which media people should behave and gather information not at the expense of ordinary people’s feelings and emotions.
Such a category of values is characterized by overriding force for stakeholders who occupy the role in question. The role of a blogger may be identified as the role in question because it cannot be understood by all people (especially those, who are not involved in web activities). In general, the interrelations of these two values cannot be neglected. As soon as people choose a cyber practice and try to investigate all its possibilities, a number of human rights and responsibilities take place so that the behavior of all stakeholders may be considered ethically and socially approved.
