Flooding is especially a significant source of danger for the area, as heavy rains can cause rivers and streams to overflow and result in flooding homes and businesses, leaving people destitute and without a place to stay for an extended period. Hurricanes pose a similar risk, with their high winds and rains capable of causing extensive damage and leaving communities without power or water (Nguyen et al., 2020). Finally, tornadoes also have the same effects, while wildfires are a man-made danger that can bring about air pollution and long-term environmental consequences.

Disaster Preparedness Steps

Carroll County can take several steps to prepare for these threats:

1. The county can develop and regularly update emergency plans for each type of disaster. This plan should include evacuation routes, shelters, supplies, and other resources that can be used in the event of a disaster.
