Rights of women in the community

Koehn takes the view that whistleblowers are hypocrites who seek to gain attention and sympathy from the public. Koehn misses the point because his arguments do not take note of the importance of the role played by whistleblowers in different organizations. He argues that revelations made by whistleblowers have negative consequences for business organizations that engage in various malpractices. He insists that allegations made by a whistleblower can lead to the collapse of a firm because this tarnishes its reputation.

Whistleblowers are important because they make it possible for the government, shareholders and other important stakeholders to know about unethical practices being done in an organization. This makes it possible for corporate malpractices to be brought out in the open. Therefore, a firm’s shareholders are able to take corrective measures against employees involved in various malpractices to ensure important functions in the firm run effectively. However, some whistleblowers are dishonest and they peddle false accusations in public to tarnish the reputations of senior managers of various firms.

Drug tests on employees

Crawford supports employers that conduct drug tests on their employees. He insists employers need to follow proper ethical guidelines whenever they do drug tests on their employees to ensure they do not violate their legal and privacy rights. His views are right because employees need to be told why drug tests are being done to ensure the process is transparent and open. All employees need to have confidentiality agreements with their firms’ management before any drug test is done.

This will ensure they take the drug test voluntarily without being coerced. Crawford’s views are correct because some malicious managers may use such tests to intimidate employees working under them. Drug tests should not be the only criteria used to determine if employees are effective in their duties. Employees who take drugs need to be encouraged to drop the habit to make them more productive and morally upright.

People feel guilty when they see other people suffering

Some people feel guilty whenever they see other people suffering. They are compassionate and this makes them more conscious about important issues that affect other people in various societies. This story confirms how some people leave their homes where they live comfortably and move to other areas that have a lot of hardships. For instance, Madonna and other famous actors in Hollywood have adopted children from Third World countries who face bleak futures.

Bill Gates has also set up a foundation that helps to uplift the status of poor people living in different parts of the world. These two examples show how people can be motivated to do positive deeds in the society that bring more happiness to other people. Therefore, this shows some people have an inner desire to help which is awakened after they see difficulties faced by other people.

Human beings

McCoy reveals that all human beings derive happiness and fulfillment from helping other people who need their help. He argues that people need to be motivated more by collective achievements that impact positively on other peoples’ lives. Therefore, every individual needs to have a pure soul that is not motivated by greed and selfishness. He argues that human beings need to show empathy to others to ensure other people in the society to achieve happiness. McCoy argues that people need to make good choices before they engage in certain actions.
