The author argues that there is no way that the Earth can return to the way it was before global warming. There are some reasons for that in his opinion. Human Overpopulation
Human overpopulation is another issue raised by the author. He says that there is not enough food in the ecosystem that can serve both the animal kingdom and the humans. It is the scramble for the limited resources that has resulted in the scarcity of food, thus leading to disasters such as drought and famine.

He warns that humans may not want to face this reality since they would have to deal with population reduction. He warns every human to remember that while the Earth is trying to return to equilibrium, it will not pay attention to any disturbances, even human beings.
