Economic stability in communities is essential for prosperity as significant recourses are necessary for improving the health of every individual. However, the current situation demonstrates that every tenth of American lives in poverty and cannot afford basic healthcare (Healthy People 2030, n. d.). Consequently, citizens with chronic diseases are unable to maintain their conditions, and others refuse to reach care unless their pain is acute. The common approach to address the problem is to increase communities’ awareness about the importance of health through lectures and fairs. This strategy provides no sources for the poor to take more responsibility for their well-being. Hospitals may develop non-profit initiatives to increase the accessibility of their services (Healthy People 2030, n. d.). An organization may influence a community from two main perspectives: expanding job opportunities and adjusting the offers to the local needs.
Indeed, jobs stabilize communities, decrease criminality, and offer the inhabitants more opportunities to improve their lives. A non-profit hospital board of directors has sufficient influence to reach the government and request the expansion of vacancies for individuals without medical education (Weeks et al., 2018). Furthermore, communities may conduct a switch in education toward helping people find jobs and offer part-time options in a hospital. Economic stability depends on various factors, and work opportunities that positively influence employment rates are the cornerstone for attracting national and statewide projects that would improve citizens’ prosperity.
A significant impact on a community’s health might also be reached by adjusting the services to their specific needs. Indeed, a hospital board of directors should know about the demographics, prevalence of certain diseases in a region, and most common health problems. Based on that information, an initiative to optimize the costs of the highly asked services might be conducted in an organization (Weeks et al., 2018). The non-profit community members involved as volunteers are crucial for expanding the population’s awareness of the healthcare system’s improvements and increasing accessibility to basic care.
