Methodology

Sadker & Sadker (1994) have illustrated the effects of gender on the educational experiences of the students. The literature review examines the co-relation between gender and the teaching process in classrooms. The researcher employed various methods for tracing and retrieving the data for the literature review and referred to the four steps recommended by Gall, Gall, and Borg (1999) for the literature review process, including searching preliminary resources, the use of secondary sources, the thorough reading of the primary sources and the incorporation of all the literature.

The researcher initiated the search from the Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) and numerous dissertation abstracts by typing the keywords: gender, sex, impact of gender on education, co-relation between gender and teaching practices, gender and teaching.

Apart from the database searches, the researcher also used the internet search engines including the Yahoo and Google to find and retrieve extra preliminary and secondary sources which provided numerous links to the required literature review. Following this, the researcher selected the most suitable articles and books (Galvan, 1999) which could be used for the studying the impact of gender socialization on the education of the students in classrooms.
