Introduction

Effective people can take how they perceive themselves as well as other people into account and understand how other people see them. This enhances communication and understanding between individuals and those they interact with as well as the world in general. Efficiency requires one to be proactive, have a positive attitude, prioritize roles, and employ the concept of interpersonal leadership. Efficient people start with the end in the mind, which refers to having a clear understanding of the consequences of one’s actions. It means determining the direction people want to take so that they can establish where they are and be cautious not to miss the direction. Inefficient people are usually caught up by their hard work all the time thinking they are doing the right thing only to find that they have been focusing on the wrong things.

Being proactive

It is motivating for an individual to elevate his or her life through the conscious mind, which is an action known as proactive habit. Human beings can analyze their moods, determine their feelings, and describe their mental states. The ability to do all that is only found in human beings and enables man to dominate over all other creations in the world and advance in his or her success from one generation to another. The ability also allows man to learn from other people’s mistakes. Human beings develop habits and break them by being proactive, which helps individuals determine how to perceive things (Crane & Matten 2007).

Proactive habit affects people’s behaviors and attitudes and serves as a guide in their lives (Crane & Matten 2007). Proactive behavior enables successful people to go beyond taking the initiative and be responsible for their actions. They know that behavior depends on wise decisions and not the conditions surrounding them. One’s behavior should be suppressed using values that cause things to happen through someone’s initiatives.

Effective people do not blame situations and conditions because they are aware that whatever they do is a consequence of their reasoning and valid choices they make every day. However, human beings are proactive by nature but situations influence them because they empower the prevailing conditions to suppress their decisions thus becoming inefficient (Dubrin & Dalglish 2005).

Always start with a positive attitude about the results

It is important to realize that efficient people esteem a positive attitude and consider what lies behind and before them, negligible compared with the inherent potentials they have, which empowers the proactive element in them. Efficient personalities have a positive attitude on the outcomes they want and do everything they can to achieve it. They ensure their actions do not contradict their goals set before beginning any task. Efficient people make achievements and successes that have much value to them through a positive attitude without sacrificing other valuable things in their lives.

Most people in professions that are usually regarded prestigious in society such as medicine, politics, business, games, and arts concentrate a lot on achieving their goals along with these professions. However, they later realize that they did that at the expense of other inherent abilities that would have made them have better outcomes in their jobs because they had a negative attitude about their personalities. Unfortunately, they realize that when it is too late to make any corrections.

Efficient individuals make their lives differently good by knowing what is important for them and maintaining that perception in their minds. They manage themselves every day by positively focusing on what matters most in their lives. If the direction one has taken in life does not correspond with the right thing, every action he or she takes will always lead to the wrong outcome (Dubrin & Dalglish 2005).

The best way for one to understand the concept of beginning with the end is considering what people would say when he or she dies to determine the level of success. The answer may differ a lot, from what you initially had in mind.

Most inefficient people measure success in terms of the money they have earned and how famous they are, which may not even be part of the right things they would have done when they were living (Goree 2007).

Order of priority for personal management

Effective personal management requires people always to start with things that matter first in life with a positive attitude that they would have good outcomes. Efficient people start with the most important things without allowing the lesser important things to interfere with their priorities. Efficient people identify the things that they do not do which would make a tremendous positive impact on their lives and practice them regularly in their personal lives.

Effective personal management is the ability of an individual to realize that he or she is the creator and in charge of every consequence. Efficient people use creativity, conscience, and inherent independent will as well as personal awareness to accomplish their responsibilities (Crane & Matten 2007).

Efficient people use the power of independent will to manage their lives by making decisions and acting rather than allowing other people to act on them. The extent of independent will is measured by the integrity one has in life, which is a strong character portrayed by efficient people. Independent will refers to the value of an efficient person places in his or her life to maintain responsibilities through daily commitments.

Effective people honor themselves, value ethics, and are proactive in life. Whenever they manage their organizations, they put first things first and maintain a high level of discipline in a systematic process (Goree 2007).

The concept of interpersonal leadership

The concept of personal management leads to the next concept of interpersonal leadership. Efficient people consider the win-win situation in their thinking, which is not a technique but a philosophical way of interaction between human beings. The win-win way of thinking allows the mind and heart to focus on mutual benefits in an organization whenever people interact (Covey 2004).

Efficient people believe that an agreement is made to benefit and satisfy all individuals involved. When a solution to a problem is established on a win-win basis, all parties enjoy the outcome and are more focused on their work for a common goal. They are cooperative and do not concentrate on competition in life. They do not concentrate on determining who is weak or strong, as they know it is a flawed way of thinking (Covey 2004).

Thoughts of efficient people are based on principles, which disregard power while still respecting other people in various positions of leadership. Win-win way of thinking assumes that there are opportunities for everyone to exploit as long as people work even when the responsibility is little. Efficient individuals value success without infringing on the rights of other people or limiting other people from achieving their success (Covey 2004).

Conclusion

For one to be efficient, the right principles must apply with the perception that the right principles are naturally given by the creator, which guides our conscience. If people are guided by conscience, they fulfill their needs and become more efficient in their work. However, people cannot be perfect in life but can have behavior that is guided by correct principles so that the overall result is good for everybody (Goree 2007).
