Energy Use
Energy, according to Goodall (2008), is the ability to perform or make something happen. Almost everything in the world is energy driven in one way or the other. It follows therefore, that how we conserve our energy contributes greatly to our environmental and economic progress. The demand for energy is on the high due to increase in industrialization. Industries have constantly been accused of the increase in air pollution. With this trend having detrimental effects on human lives, new measures to protect our environment from industry pollution have been implemented all over the world (Goodall, 2008). Energy production techniques to help preserve our environment have emerged with the production of less harmful and friendlier energy. Industries are recycling their waste product into useful energy which reduces the cost of production and increases the growth of economy. Industries using electricity in their facilities and the heat that is generated as a by-product captured to generate steam, is a perfect example. Alternative energy is a source of energy that is very efficient and economical (Amiran, 2006).energy produced from our natural source like the solar energy and wind energy reduces cost and helps in financial stability of an industry or an individual.
There are various energy sources that includes; nuclear energy, alternative energy and fossil energy. The primary used source of energy is the fossil energy which describes gases and fuel that are applicable in almost all sectors in our life. Machines being used to generate electricity in all industries are generated with fuel for processing. Fossil energy are non renewable and are generated from natural resources buried dead organism decay and decompose for millions of years (Goodall, 2008).
Above is a chart to show my energy consumption in three days.
Conservation Measures
I have to take appropriate measures to reduce consumption of energy in my day today activities. First, I plan to replace my bulbs for lighting with more efficient energy saving bulbs like fluorescent, stop using my vehicle for transport to reduce fuel consumption or else replace my vehicle with modern vehicle that are not fuel guzzlers and are friendly to the environment. Secondly, I will change my appliance and electronic and replace them with the modern ones. Lastly, I will change my cooking schedule to a more responsible one. This means that I will have to cook when the need is cooking. Cooking one meal at different times has the overall effect of energy consumption unwarranted. Eventually I will have reduced the cost of bills and energy use.
To implement this change will be a costly activity like buying other appliance will be difficult and requires time and money. The international environmental law currently has an ongoing debate on how to preserve wildlife in Africa. Environmental pollution in Africa has been on the increase which greatly affects African people and the wildlife in Africa. Studies have shown that population density in Africa has been on the decline and is not high like the rest of the continents around the world. The argument brought forth is that Africans are negligent and polluters of environment. African wildlife like the Rhinos especially black Rhinos are facing extinct due to ignorance and air pollution. Let’s save Africa and its environment through energy conservation measures that are progressive and up to date (American Council on Renewable Energy, 2007).
