Such statements should not be used in this environment because it is not ethical. The biggest problem is that the agency has hired a former intimate partner of an employee as a supervisor. One needs to be informed about such information beforehand. I would have reported this right away because it has been proven that any relationship between a boss and a worker may cause serious problems in the workplace. It is especially problematic from the ethics point of view because they may treat each other differently, especially if they have personal issues.
