The job I want is a marketer employed by a fashion company. The major purpose of marketing is promotion of goods and services, which constitutes the main activity performed by representatives of marketing departments. In order for the promotion to be successful, marketers have to analyze the client base, the company’s offers, and find creative ways of attracting new customers. It is also essential to keep track of new developments as the industry is dynamic with each season offering unique innovations.

I personally want this position because it would allow me to immerse myself in the world of fashion. I have always been attracted to stylish clothes and jewelry, as well as the means of obtaining them. I briefly considered the career of a sales manager, but I rejected this idea because it would focus on clients and the predetermined approaches of selling items to them. I also entertained the notion of becoming a stylist, but I realized that I do not have sufficient expertise to create new attractive clothing. However, I do have comprehension of the fashion industry and new tendencies. I preferred the choice of a marketer because it would allow me to monitor the current preferences of people and find effective ways of adjusting marketing to the demand.

In order to successfully promote a product, one needs to understand the primary market forces, the constituency of industries, and many other economic nuances. The most common educational program that covers these needs would a bachelor’s degree in marketing. However, this job also requires effective communication with customers, most of which would transpire online. A bachelor’s degree in communication would provide the basics of interaction with people.

It should be evident that fashion compnaies need employees who are both analytical and extroverted. The critical mindset would allow marketers to understand what products have potential and what promotion strategies are ineffective. The ability to analyze competition is important because it would allow the company to sell products in a different manner. At the same time, the communicative aspect of the job is significant because customers form the major source of income for businesses. The better a company can connect with potential clients, the more likely the exchange to be profitable. Therefore, a marketer also has to be able to predict customers’ needs and delicately communicate to them why a certain product would need their needs.

Currently, I meet the communication criteria due to my extroverted nature. I have enough experience in discussing fashion for me to ascertain the needs of my interlocutor. I also have a deep understanding of the quality of clothes and its appropriateness in relation to current industry standards. However, I lack the knowledge of economics and market forces. Pursuing a degree in marketing would provide me with fundamentals essential to understand market behavior.

The day-to-day life of marketers presupposes no fixed routine due to the dynamic nature of communication with clients. Instead, there are certain tasks, which have to be completed on a regular basis, such as checking e-mail and maintaining social media activity. Online interactions constitute a substantial part of modern life and successful companies utilize the social networks to promote their brands. As a result, a marketer has to spend a significant portion of worktime in front of the computer and smartphone screens.

Ensuring effective marketing requires planning and constant assessment of the company’s offer. As a result, marketers have to check with and regularly update calendars of business events. For instance, Black Friday is an important business opportunity for any company, yet it is not the only attractive offer. Marketers have to seek such opportunities to draw customers’ attention throughout the entire year. Meanwhile, marketers also have to use social media advertisement options to find new clients.

Lifestyle of marketers is hectic, chaotic, and dynamic because it is dependent on the company’s interaction with customers. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median pay is $133,380 per year or $64.12 per hour (Advertising, promotions, and marketing managers, 2022). Most of marketers have full-time employment working 40 hours a week. However, the presence of deadlines implies the necessity to spend more time at work when the workload is too high to be covered by the standard workday.

The major advantages of the job include the absence of a fixed routine, the necessity to solve creative tasks, and the ability to constantly monitor the recent developments of the fashion industry. The disadvantages are deadlines, which may force people to spend more hours at work than they are paid for and the lack of remote work, as most companies require marketers to be in office. Overall, the more passionate about the fashion a person is, the more likely they are to find the job satisfying.
