Changes
Fitness First offers the system of communication with the members of the clubs and with the people interested in their activities with the help of a special feedback channel in the website. The site and feedback channel’s main tasks are to provide the necessary information about the club. However, the activity of these resources can be more effective for the development of the company and improvement of the employees’ work when people have the opportunity to present their proposals on the improvement of the clubs’ work or definite changes which meet their demands and receive the feedback about the possibilities of discussing these proposals and their implementing. Fitness First is the customer focused company that is why it is necessary to follow the customers’ demands and regulate the work of the personnel according to the provided improvements. The success of the procedure depends on the encouragement of the innovative thinkers’ ideas on developing the programs according to the customers’ interests.
Entrepreneurial department and area
One of the main problems of Fitness First clubs is the lack of the opportunity to attract the trainers of the extra class. According to Porter’s National Competitive Advantage and factor conditions, it is necessary to hire skilled employees to provide the qualitative service. It is important for managers to focus on the potential and skills of the hired employees and present them the opportunity for improvement while participating in the training programs developed according to the clubs’ requirements and demand conditions (Porter 1998). These training programs are effective because they are oriented on achieving the long-term goals. The development of the training programs meets the company’s orientation on the effective structure and rivalry and the peculiarities of market domination model according to which the work of managers is organized (Cornwall, Vang, & Hartman 2009).
Open communication
Open communication between the employees and managers will be effective when depending on the principles of support and trust. Thus, to develop the open communication within the company, it is necessary to contribute to the development of the team building programs and corporate culture. Moreover, it is necessary to avoid the approaches which limit the communication’s development such as the leaders and managers’ focusing on details, isolation of the leader, his ‘single-mindedness’ (‘insulated leader’). In this case, the motivating communication between managers and employees is also of great importance.
Two innovation champions
The main task of Jan Kengelbach and Chris Stone is the solution of the problems and the prediction of the possible difficulties (Fitness First 2012). They are the innovative thinkers within the company. However, the company develops according to the principles of stability and domination in the industry. To provide the innovative decisions, they should be oriented on the customers and industry’s demands and be flexible. Thus, it is necessary to combine the methods of the market domination model used in the company with the flexible methods oriented on the use of definite innovations effectively (Schermerhorn 2010).
Entrepreneurial thing
Training programs will be effective when they meet the employees’ interests. It is necessary for managers to concentrate not only on controlling and providing discipline within the company but also on increasing the employees’ motivation (Daft 2011). Thus, the managers should follow the commitment employment model with focusing on setting clear tasks, providing the necessary knowledge and training, offering the significant improvements with the concentration on the period of the staff’s adaptation to them, and peer controlling.
Scalable of growth
The main issue of Fitness First clubs is the preservation of the position of the leader within the market. According to Porter’s Five Forces, the company’s supplier power is high in combination with the leader positions in the competition (rivalry) within the industry. The buyer power is caused by the company’s strategy on providing the top quality services. Nevertheless, there is the threat of substitutes affected by the development of the other companies within the relative industries.
