I agree that it is important to accentuate the role of critical thinking for advanced practice nurses who often have expert knowledge in concrete clinical areas. I think that advanced practice nurses often demonstrate their skills in critical thinking because they regularly need to assess the patients’ state, resolve complex nursing questions, decide on managing health issues and therapeutic interventions, and make clinical judgments. To succeed in these activities, advanced practice nurses should have developed critical thinking skills that allow analyzing situations quickly, arguing on outcomes, and making reasonable decisions (Papp & Huang, 2014, p. 715). I believe that advanced practice nurses are effective critical thinkers because they refer to theoretical knowledge and promote the principles of evidence-based practice.
