Introduction
Throughout history, agriculture has been the backbone of many societies. From the humble beginnings of agriculture, humanity has made tremendous strides to reach the modern era we live in today. The agricultural era was a time when humans relied on farming and agriculture for their livelihood. However, as societies grew and became more complex, people began to develop new technologies and ideas that would transform their lives and the world around them. How we live, work, and engage with one another have changed as a result of urbanization and globalization.
Discussion
The modern era began around the end of the Renaissance, in the 1500s. Significant technical developments during this era include the creation of the scientific method, mass communication, and mass transit. Industrialization was a major turning point in the modern era, as it led to the mass production of goods and the growth of the global economy. The introduction of new inventions, such as the light bulb and the assembly line, revolutionized how goods were produced and distributed worldwide.
Globalization has played a significant role in shaping the modern era. It has led to increased interconnectedness between people and countries, making it nearly impossible to isolate one small region of the world and talk only about it. This has caused the balance of power to change, with some nations overtaking others. Imperialism, which has been present throughout history, took on a new form in the modern era, as powerful countries used advanced technologies to colonize other countries and societies. For example, In New Zealand’s early colonial past, farming acted as a catalyst for change that crossed important ecological frontiers. (Campbell) Although imperialism benefited some countries, many colonized countries lost their resources, ways of life, and freedom. Industrialization grew the global economy and encouraged new forms of imperialism.
Conclusion
Agriculture has been a vital part of human history, but with the advent of industrialization, globalization, and the modern era, many changes have occurred that have transformed the way we live and interact with each other. These changes have sparked the mass production of products, the expansion of the world economy, and a rise in international ties. Although these changes have had many positive effects, they have also had a big influence on societies and people all over the globe.
