An immigrant may find adjusting to living in a foreign country complex since few people are ready to assist them. It is sometimes challenging to determine where to commence after relocating to a new country to make a fresh start. It can be overwhelming to figure out where to reside, choose a school, and secure healthcare coverage. Many difficulties will affect one’s day-to-day life and the social adjustments accompanying moving to a new nation. With 47 million immigrants as of 2015, the United States has the highest immigrant number globally, according to statistics collected by the United Nations (Elshahat et al.). The strangeness and adjustments might be daunting for newcomers. But assistance is accessible; all that they must do is seek it.

Finding one’s initial employment in a foreign nation can be challenging, mainly when somebody does not possess a support system of relatives or acquaintances available to assist them. The fact that several new immigrants are unfamiliar with the regional labor market and that their educational qualifications are frequently ignored are further drawbacks (Elshahat et al.). Additionally, many people could have trouble conversing in a foreign language for work. Fear should not be anyone’s strong suit because taking the brave decision to depart home in search of new opportunities is a bold move. This comes from one having a strong intuition that they could knock on doorways and find folks who would be eager to assist. Numerous entities are available to help, from professional groups to regional labor advocacy organizations.

Everybody should obtain access to medical care solutions, irrespective of where they are. Regrettably, accessibility to healthcare is less common for immigrants. While uninsured patients typically pay a high amount for medical care, certain institutions and organizations charge little or nothing (Elshahat et al.). Additionally, these locations frequently have interpreters available to assist visitors. For instance, one immigrant once got harmed at work and was forced to live with a nasty cut on the wrist that ultimately healed because he did not have coverage or funds to take himself to the hospital. It would have been beneficial for him at that moment to have his injuries examined or possibly to visit the emergency room. But through perseverance and hope, he recovered with no further ailments following the cut.

Although housing, employment, transportation, and amenities are priorities for immigrants, cultural differences are not always at the top of the list of practical issues. However, a lot of immigrants claim that the most prominent effect is made by cultural differences right away. This might include everything from social norms to more extensive concerns like how people view gender, religious variety, race, and sexuality—all of which could be very different in a foreign country (Elshahat et al.). It may cause immigrants to feel alone and possibly harm their mental health. It is critical to acknowledge that ideals will vary, and one does not influence them. While embracing various values does not necessitate one to adopt them as their own, one might be required to develop an understanding of how to appreciate them in others.

Having come from an African home, the earlier stated immigrant lived a life of giving priority to the elderly and holding firm to the values like kindness, selflessness, and respect that they, as a society, took seriously. Upon relocating to the new state, where things were utterly different, all he needed to do was keep a low profile, finish his studies and go back home. Students in the host area always communicated vilely, as they found solace in it. He chose not to adopt their way of talking as he took it upon himself to represent his people back home. Hence, foul communication did not seem fit, despite the many times he was mocked by those who dwelled in the area.

Prejudice and racial discrimination are unfortunate realities that immigrants face everywhere. However, my host country, Canada, has a lot to discourage it, thanks to progressive laws and a growingly diverse citizenry. Supportive programs assist persons dealing with racism, including welfare care, community and peer organizations, and a contemporary police department with strict multicultural and anti-racist regulations. Racist harassment is forbidden by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and local and national organizations fight it (Elshahat et al.). Despite being amended in law, it comes as no surprise when slander is thrown one’s way as one goes about their business.

Immigrants seek out individuals with whom they share cultural beliefs, adhere to a common religion, and converse in their native tongue, which in turn helps them to deal with the problems they face daily. This makes them feel emotionally released, especially after dealing with the difficulties individually. They grow more unified and in harmony with one another by establishing social clubs and charitable organizations that construct homes, churches, and orphanages. Governments worldwide continue to change laws that help immigrants find opportunities in the same way that others wish to combat them. Despite physical differences, people should all remember that they are all human and should love one another because what matters is how positively they affect other people’s lives
