Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an evolving field that is rapidly gaining traction in a number of fields. Different aspects of health care ranging from administration to patient care can use various aspects of AI based on their needs. Using AI can be significantly beneficial to both health practitioners and patients by improving efficiency and improving outcomes.
AI has been used previously in areas such as diagnostics, drug interactions and electronic health records. This is made possible due to the availability of big data in the industry based on various data points from different patients. As a result, a computer system can be able to analyses huge tracts of information to accurately classify and identify important aspects required by a health practitioner (Manne & Kantheti, 2021). Therefore, this improves their decision-making capabilities hence ultimately improving efficiency in the industry.
Furthermore, AI systems can further be taught how to forecast or simulate various outcomes based on input data. This can be implemented through the use of deep learning techniques such as neural networks that “recognizes underlying relationships in a set of data through a process which mimics the human brain” (Manne & Kantheti, 2021, p.82). This is important in ensuring that both patients and health practitioners have the best information before embarking on a particular treatment plan hence improving outcomes.
Artificial intelligence can thus be a game changer in the health care industry by providing solutions that human beings may be unable to currently decipher. In the long run, by tapping into the power of such emerging technologies, health care providers can be able to save lives by improving the quality of care. Therefore, more institutions must tap into this resource to build the industry and improve outcomes while reducing the overall burden to the patients.
