Introduction
The concepts of social justice and ethical responsibility are closely connected with each other; the promotion of responsibilities among the population with the purpose of establishing and supporting the atmosphere of general justice and ethics. It should be noted the distribution of ethical standards is aimed at controlling appropriate individual’s behavior in accordance with situational conditions. Ethical dilemmas in the system of justice are usually solved through certain ethical standards on the basis of morality and balance of justice in society. Nevertheless, human routine and ignorance of the population towards moral regulations and ethical standards lead to the destruction of the link between the system of justice and ethical responsibility to be highly promoted. Racial and social prejudices appeared to be causes for inequality and social injustice promotion; the distribution of common ideas and goals to develop ethical norms and morality can make people unite despite the pressure routine and ignorance. (James, and Merickel, 90)
Justice and Ethics
The analysis of the article Letter from a Birmingham Jail by Martin Luther King, Jr. is dedicated to the investigation of racism issues in society through the power of language. It should be noted that in accordance with King, it is language, which can become the way of problem overcoming. He states that one should use discourse as the way of rhetorical audience impact by means of explanation of the problem depth and the necessity to introduce rapid changes. The attempts of justice achievements and racism overcoming can be reached by the unity of white and black people in coping with the grave problem in the USA and throughout the world. It is necessary to underline the fact that Letter from a Birmingham Jail caused considerable criticism and was perceived as a form of nonviolent civil disobedience. The main purpose of this work was to underline the violent power of white structure providing the black society with no alternatives; the absence of ethical motivations for responsibility promotion. The solution to the global social problem can be fulfilled through the following steps to be done: facts collection; self-purification; negotiation and direct actions. There is a tendency to believe that it is ignorance and desire for getting the power that led to the high promotion of interracial problems; common harmony and mutual understanding can be reached using general unity through discourse. King’s desire to promote creative hopes was aimed at changing oppressiveness. Nevertheless, one should point out that standardized norms and rules in society can hardly be changed because of indifference to morality and social justice. (Glenn, 27)
The problem of ignorance to social justice and ethical responsibility was also investigated by George Orwell in his essay A Hanging. It is deep and thought-provoking writing involving the readers into the atmosphere of human indifference and irresponsibility for committed actions. George Orwell allows the readers to ‘watch’ his personal experience of Hindu man execution; the events took place in Burma, the place where he came as a European establishment visitor. One should underline the idea that Orwell successfully demonstrated the impact of human routine on social crimes and unawareness of committed actions. The author illustrated the process of hanging a man, which was performed in a hurry and under the pressure of routine. He stresses that ‘An enormous relief had come upon us now that the job was done. One felt an impulse to sing, to break into a run, to snigger. All at once, everyone began chattering gaily. (Emblen, 420). It is a case of total irresponsibility and the absence of ethical awareness about the role of social justice. The author managed to show all horror of the atmosphere he witnessed when the prisoners were treated inhumanly and perceived like animals; besides, the cells, which were described as animal cages, created an atmosphere of cruelty. The central idea of the essay was directed at giving the readers a chance to feel the treatment of prisoners by the superintendent. The execution is perceived as a routine task to be strictly fulfilled in time. The author provides the picture of senseless creatures bearing no responsibilities for everything they do. Frankly speaking, it is a problem of people, but not the standards we follow; we are the creators of the atmosphere we live in and only social awareness and promotion of ethics will lead to human justice. (Emblen, 443)
One more work to be analyzed as an example of justice and ethical responsibility investigation is considered to be Fight the Power, which is focused on the investigation of racial, social, and artistic issues and their complex role in modern society. The central idea of this work is to highlight the centralization of racial inequality through negative images in music and cinematography. The author managed to depict the level of Black culture development and its perception by the society. The description of the Public Enemy experiment appeared to be the successful illustration of Hip Hop culture expression through black and white interaction. The book provides the vision of the national limitations of people of African American origin living in the USA; the atmosphere of social injustice in the world in which black people live, whose roles in the society are limited enough. (Chuck, Jah, and Lee, 198)
The analysis of the problem of justice and promotion of racial prejudices and inequality raised in the society can become a springboard to its solution on the international level. Philosophically speaking, ethics should be the builder of society, while social justice is the result of its construction. Racial inequalities have been considered a major problem for decades through the absence of common ethics regulations to be followed by every individual regardless of his/her nationality. The only way out can be reached through rapid changes in the society we live in; international integration under common ethical regulations will result in harmony, justice, and prosperity.
Conclusion
The ethics of responsibility is the issue requiring thorough analysis and deep investigation; it is the source of common justice distribution throughout the world. Martin Luther King managed to underline the idea that only language and discourse can unite the population of the planer driving the change for the better. Orwell managed to stress the idea that it is human indifference that makes us cruel and inhuman to others. Living in a hurry we forget about the responsibility we bear for our lives and for the right given to us to live a full and happy life. People are the destructors of their cultures, traditions, customs and values created a long time ago. The division and discrimination between black and white lead to ethical dissolving and total injustice in society. (Shapcott, 73)
