What is the main situation of the movie, and how it is related to the immigration problem?

All the events of the film occur between the two contrary groups. Because of the excessive population, political, and cultural issues, the planet is no longer able to provide the conditions that are suitable for living. Here we can see the similar moments between the movie events, and the real situation on the planet today. Our planet comes to the point when it would be unable to provide the necessary quality of life. In the extremely populated and polluted earth cities, many individuals aspire to move to other, more abundant places. In a comparison with the destructed earth, the orbital station includes all the possible benefits and pleasures, as well as universal health care.

In its turn, the people on the planet do not get the necessary health care, due to the poor level of local medical institutions. Because of the constant struggle, the people from earth aim to move to the orbital station at all costs. However, the protective forces of Elysium prevent every smallest attempt of a planetary shuttle to enter its personal space. In a comparison with the movie scenario, many people in our world want to migrate to the more developed countries because there they can have the required health care and additional opportunities for development. The minister of defense Delacourt makes all the efforts to strengthen the control over the unauthorized attempts of entering the station. Her primary goal is to limit the opportunity the access for foreign representatives. The current situation in the world is not fully similar to the case, reflected in the film. Of course, there are developed countries that have strict laws concerning the immigration procedure, but still, most of them continue to stay available for the persistent people.

How the actions of the main hero could be described, and how do they influence immigration?

Suddenly, our hero found out that he has a deadly disease and that he has only five days of living left. His desire to live forces him to contact his old criminal friends, who gladly help him to create fake citizenship of Elysium. As payment for that service, he has to leave earth forever because of the mission. He does that mostly because he wants to open the door for immigration. His primary purpose is to download the electronic data, related to the restart of Elysium’s servers. The forceful restart would mean a full reset of the controlling options. It would allow all the earth humans to become the full value citizens of Elysium, which would give them full access to the Elysium’s medicines and immigration opportunity. That case could be compared with our idea of the Fall of World Order, when there would be no more boundaries between the countries, and that the opportunity for immigration would be completely unlimited.

During the whole movie, the actions of the main hero could be described as brave, masculine, and resolute. Of course, a decision to move to Elysium describes him as a strong and sacrificial individual, who is ready to sacrifice everything that he has for the good of all.

What is the overall purpose and idea?

The idea of the movie is about reflecting the artificial differences within the imaginary classes, which exist only inside of human consciousness. The concept of specialty and superiority of one group of people above another has no solid background. The main purpose of the movie is to show that there are powers in the world, which coordinate and regulate the principle of equilibrium. The ending of the movie fully reflects that principle. If to express it through the concept of immigration, all people have the natural rights to reside and travel where they want without limitations. That right is given to humans by nature, and no country is authorized to take it from them.
