Introduction

The class exercises outlined a number of issues, concepts, and practices that can drive performance in an organization. Human beings are social creatures and cannot live without one another. In business organizations, many people from diverse backgrounds come together in order to record the most desirable results. It is therefore agreeable that employees in a given company should possess a wide range of competencies ranging from team management to conflict resolution (Tohidi & Jabbari 2011). This discussion gives a detailed reflection on the class exercises.

Quality of the Submitted Video

The quality of the created video was acceptable. This is the case because the video focused on specific organizational skills and competencies that can result in improved performance. To begin with, motivation was the first issue to consider during the process. During the exercise, we outlined some of the best approaches towards motivating different employees in their respective working environments. The video focused on issues such as the provision of resources, proper human resource (HR) practices, and competitive salaries (Sohmen 2013). The other motivational concept was the use of work-life balance. Workers should be allowed to engage in various activities in order to deal with burnout.

Organizational culture is something that should be embraced by different companies. The video targeted specific practices that can be used to improve the cultural attributes of an organization. The guiding principle towards promoting the best organizational culture is the use of a powerful vision. The ‘vision statement becomes the foundation element of a company’s culture’ (Tohidi & Jabbari 2011, p. 858). The video outlined some of the best values that dictate the culture of an organization. Some of these values include professionalism, code of conduct, integrity, and authenticity.

Companies that want to realize their potentials must attract workers from diverse backgrounds. Such people will present the best ideas and practices that add value to the company and make it successful. Some practices such as teamwork, rituals, and ceremonies can improve the organizational culture of a given company (Korner et al. 2015).

The other critical issue considered during the creation of the video was personality. Sohmen (2013) defines personality as the qualities, thoughts, and emotions embraced by a person. On the other hand, attitude focuses on how an individual will behave whenever he or she encounters a specific situation. The video showed conclusively that human beings will have different attitudes depending on the events affecting them. Positive personalities should be considered whenever hiring new employees in a company. This approach can guide companies to realize their goals.

Working as a Group

Throughout the period, our group managed to complete its tasks in a timely manner. For instance, the major topics targeted at the beginning were addressed successfully. The created video presented the major topics and made it easier for the team to realize its potentials. In order to record positive records, most of the members in the team focused on the targeted outcomes (Sohmen 2013). They were also ready to deliver their inputs and ideas in order to complete the tasks successfully.

As indicated earlier in this discussion, four topics were targeted by our team. These included personalities, attitudes, organizational culture, and motivation. These topics made it easier for the members of the team to understand most of the concepts discussed in class. For instance, the team focused on specific attributes such as communication and conflict resolution (Tohidi & Jabbari 2011). Admirable norms were developed by the team.

The most outstanding fact is that the group managed to achieve every targeted goal. This is the case because most of the members were committed to producing a quality video. Before starting the activity, every member was allowed to take up specific roles (Korner et al. 2015). This initiative was undertaken in order to achieve the targeted goals within the stipulated period.

The other important thing was the use of effective group norms and processes. The team outlined several rules to ensure every member acted ethically. For example, the individuals were required to interact with one another in a professional manner. Mutual respect and support for each other were embraced by the team members (Chuang 2013). The team outlined a number of objectives and goals. This approach made it easier for the members to focus on the best outcomes.

The members of the team selected a leader. The role of this individual was to guide the members of the team. Consequently, the members were able to realize the targeted goals. To begin with, the leader promoted some of the best practices in order to produce a positive culture. The leader guided the teammates to cooperate with one another. The issue of communication was taken seriously by the team leader. Every member of the team was ready to engage in meaningful communication. The leader encouraged the individuals to commit themselves to the targeted goals (Korner et al. 2015). Every individual understood his or her role. The practice played a positive role in making the team successful.

The group was associated with a number of skills and practices. For instance, members of the team collaborated in order to realize the targeted objectives. The leader informed the followers about the outlined group norms. The members of the team found it easier to address the issues affecting the targeted goals (Korner et al. 2015). The group borrowed most of the ideas described in the class in an attempt to realize its goals.

The leader of the team focused on the best values to support the targeted goals. For instance, integrity, professionalism, ethics, and commitment became critical aspects of the team. These values empowered the individuals to work hard and make the team successful. The leader embraced a participative approach in order to ensure the targeted goals were realized within the shortest time possible. Proper decision-making strategies were embraced by the members of the team. Every person was involved throughout every decision-making process (Chuang 2013). The members embraced the best approaches in order to produce desirable outcomes.

The other important thing to consider is that the team managed to realize most of its potentials. Every person in the group managed to complete his or her tasks in a timely manner. The role of the leader was to guide the members and support the issues affecting them. The members of the team were also encouraged to take up different leadership roles (Sohmen 2013). This approach was taken seriously in order to achieve every targeted goal. With effective communication and collaboration, it was possible for the team to emerge successfully.

Every member of the team completed his or her tasks in a timely manner. For instance, the members were ready to focus on the targeted areas. The targeted areas include attitudes, personalities, organizational culture, and motivation (Korner et al. 2015). Each member of the team was assigned one area. The next thing was to present our completions and produce the targeted video. During the period, collaboration was taken seriously in an attempt to create the video. Consequently, the members of the team managed to produce a superior video in a timely manner.

It should be notable that the group encountered a number of challenges. For instance, members of the team were unable to agree on the best time to meet. This was the case because some of the members had some personal activities (Lukic et al. 2014). Despite this challenge, the members managed to complete the outlined tasks. In order to produce positive results, every individual was encouraged and guided to complete the targeted tasks.

As mentioned earlier, specific issues such as communication, decision-making, and conflict resolution were taken seriously (Chuang 2013). The leaders guided the group to come up with the best behaviors. The right time to hold our meeting was identified (Korner et al. 2015). This approach made it easier for the group members to focus on every targeted goal. This practice explains why teams should embrace similar practices in order to emerge successfully.

What I Would Do Differently in the Future

The activities of the group proved that we possessed some of the best organizational skills. The four members of the team were able to act ethically, interact with one another, communicate effectively, and deliver positive results. The group work also outlined the best practices that can make different teams successful (Lukic et al. 2014). For instance, the concept of leadership can encourage the targeted followers to work hard. The leader should encourage the members of the group to have clearly defined roles and goals. This approach can produce positive outcomes within the shortest time possible.

Throughout the period, a number of challenges emerged such as the inability to settle on the best time to hold our meetings. This was the case because the members of the team had their personal agendas. Fortunately, we were able to address the challenge. This achievement made it possible for our team to record positive results. The individuals worked hard in order to ensure every goal was realized within the shortest time possible (Lukic et al. 2014). The completed video was therefore acceptable and addressed the above four key areas.

The other important thing is that I have gained new ideas that can guide me to support my groups in the future. Our team allocated specific roles to each of the four members. This process was done in order to ensure the team realized its objectives in a timely manner. However, this approach affected most of the targeted goals. The strategy also discouraged the members of the team from meeting frequently. That being the case, I will reconsider such issues in the future in order to promote the idea of teamwork. Before designing the targeted team, it is appropriate to ensure the participants understand the importance of group work (Chuang 2013). When the members are aware of this goal, it becomes easier for them to work hard and eventually achieve the outlined goals.

As a team leader, I will always be on the frontline to equip the members with the most desirable skills. These teamwork skills have the potential to make the group successful (Lukic et al. 2014). For instance, the followers should be guided and empowered to manage time properly. This practice will ensure my future teams realize their objectives. It will be my obligation to guide the members of my teams and equip them with the most desirable competencies (Lukic et al. 2014). For instance, I will focus on the idea of cohesion. This approach will guide different followers to work together, address their conflicts, and empower each other.

It is necessary for groups to outline reasonable and attainable goals. The SMART model can be used to ensure the targeted goals resonate with the mission of the team. I will use this model in the future to ensure every outlined goal ‘is specific, measureable, realistic, and time-based (Lukic et al. 2014, p. 51). In the future, I will make sure the members are aware of the targeted goals. It will also be appropriate to empower the members and equip them with the best resources.

The next lesson gained from the class activity is that ‘the members of a team should be guided to keep track of their respective contributions’ (Lukic et al. 2014, p. 53). The completed project should succeed because of the contributions of the members of the team. I will use this approach in the future in order to make my teams successful. The process will also play a positive role in delivering positive results.

The other observation is the need to use appropriate conflict resolution techniques. I am planning to study widely in order to acquire new competencies that can guide me to address the challenges affecting different teams (Sohmen 2013). This practice is necessary because conflicts will always affect teams. When these conflicts emerge, the teammates might find it hard to complete their tasks successfully. It is therefore appropriate for team leaders to embrace the best strategies in order to address every conflict.

Finally, I will be ready to promote some of the practices to support the performance of my teams. For instance, I will implement the best values such as integrity and professionalism (Chuang 2013). These practices can guide members of a given team to act ethically. The followers will use the implemented code of conduct. This practice will make it easier for them to deliver the best outcomes. New behaviors such as positive communication, collaboration, problem-solving, critical thinking, and cooperation will emerge. Such competencies will play a positive role in making my teams successful. I will read numerous materials and theories that can be a good leader. This practice can support the goals and objectives of many followers.

Concluding Remarks

The class exercises have equipped me with powerful organizational skills that will make me successful in the future. The exercises supported the importance of organizational culture and teamwork. Our team comprised of four people managed to achieve its goals within the specified time. The members of the team collaborated and focused on the targeted outcomes. The class exercise has also guided me to consider specific improvements that have the potential to improve my teamwork skills (Lukic et al. 2014). Some of the new issues to consider include conflict resolution and formulation of SMART goals. These measures will eventually support my professional and personal philosophies.
